Christmas gift
We were given this voucher for Christmas 2019 and then came the pandemic. We had already booked our voucher to use in June 2020 but were of course unable to travel There was no difficulty cancelling and rescheduling and everyone involved in the process were very helpful. Once at the hotel we were allowed to check in early and all the staff and facilities were great.

Two night leisure break
Myself and my daughter really enjoyed this hotel. It was in a convenient location to get into the city. There is a nice pub/carvery a few minutes walk away. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help. We shall be returning there as soon as we can.

Wonderful experience
The hotel was excellent, ideally located with first class service . The added extra of afternoon tea river cruise was most satisfying, lovely food, service and overall really nice.

Lovely stay
Although the hotel could do with a little modernisation ... creaking floorboards, tired decor oh and only one towel in a double room.... the service was great and food very good so all in all a very pleasant stay and we would go again.

Huge comfy bed|
The room had an extra large very comfortable bed, and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The hotel was a short drive or 10 minute walk to the park and ride into York, where there is so much to do. We enjoyed the breakfasts. The room was a bit hot for us but we turned the radiator off. We did not eat dinner or have any bar drinks at the hotel.

Short break in York
We enjoyed our stay spending time in York and exploring parts of the Yorkshire coast. The hotel looked well maintained and clean and our room was comfortable. The food was good quality. The staff we met were friendly and helpful especially Jess in the restaurant. Like all hotels the price of drinks in the bar are very expensive. The first morning the cooked breakfast was cold and our room was not serviced the first day. Dinner also took too long to be served. Hence 4 stars and not 5.

Weekend break
Hotel was ideally located just off the ring road and within half a mile of the park and ride which provided regular buses direct into the city centre and to the designer outlet centre.Room was spacious and clean.Breakfast was self service and plenty of variety plus everything was cooked nicely.Would certainly book up again.

Better than expected
Read some poor revues prior to visit, but better than expected. Breakfast ok but maybe scrambled eggs would be better for sitting under hotplate for a long time, not ideal for fried eggs. Bedroom good, single beds were not as bad as someone said, one downside was the busy road next to the Hotel, lovely grounds though. Food and drink expensive, this is to be expected I think but not for me, good for splashing out.

A Lovely Mini Break
Fairfield Manor is a lovely well maintained hotel in pretty grounds. It is located outside York city centre and we would strongly advise visitors wishing to go sight seeing to leave their vehicle in the nearby Park and Ride (Rawcliffe Bar). I can imagine it would be difficult to find parking areas at peak times. We stayed Bed and Breakfast and the food was delicious, and the staff were lovely, however both evenings we came back we waited quite a while to be served at the bar. Otherwise lovely.

Two night stay
The stay was only let down by the fact that the lounge/sitting/bar areas were uncomfortably cool. The hotel must notice that very few people were using them. It couldn’t have only been the bar prices!

Comfortable hotel on the outskirts of York
The hotel was set in lovely grounds and looked very attractive. The reception staff were friendly and professional. We were given a beautiful suite for our stay with a spa bath and a separate living room. The bed was wonderfully large and comfortable and the WiFi was strong. The hotel was very quiet and it was a lovely and relaxing experience. However the restaurant food was disappointing and the service sadly lacking and the location meant we had no other choice within walking distance.

York
Whist the hotel was a little dated, it was nice, clean and well presented. The staff were pleasant and the food was good. Over £10 for a large glass of red wine is just ridiculous though so no wonder the bar was empty and understaffed when we went for a drink. If you are visiting York then i think this is a great location but could do with the investment of a pool/spa to make it truly special. As i left my walking shoes there, they were very helpful in arranging to post them back to me...Hopefully

A good place to say
This hotel a few miles outside York and our stay was very enjoyable. Parking all day in York £12.50. However the park and ride is excellent: free parking £2.90 return.

Beautiful hotel situated in a lovely area. All the staff are very friendly with an obliging nature. In the dining area they were at hand to help me in my choice of food, since I am vegetarian. Thoroughly enjoyed my time at the mercure.

Enjoyable
We have stayed at Leeds Mercure and thought we would try Yorks Mercure Hotel. Really enjoyed our stay here, rooms very spacious and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Minor issues, floor boards are very noisy but this didnt affect our stay at all, and iron and ironing board that I requested had been forgotten but was soon rectified when reminded.

Spoilt 75th birthday pressie
A smile would have helped at reception! Rubbish was left outside room, bins hadn't been emptied and not sorted after reporting. Room had no view except for small courtyard. For what it cost, would have expected more - esp at breakfast which was self service. Not the luxury accommodation that we expected - very tatty in places. Is it the policy of the hotel to allocate cheapest rooms to your gift voucher system? Spoilt my birthday present and I obviously will NOT be telling my children!!

Was expecting a better standard of hotel
A dated hotel, old fittings and needs an update in the rooms. The noisy bathroom fan would stay on for at least 15 mins so making a trip to the bathroom in the night a dark one. The location was suitable and the staff very friendly. The room had an outward view of a brick wall, not the splendid few nights away as expected. The process of the booking was easy but let down with the standard of the hotel.
