Overview
Grab a fellow wine lover and treat your palates to some of the finest vintages the UK has to offer. Chapel Down produces a world-class collection of sparkling and still wines, together with an award-winning array of beers and ciders. Sparkling Wines are created using the traditional method from fruit sourced from Chapel Down’s very own and partner vineyards.
You’ll be educated and entertained by your knowledgeable guide, who’ll take you into the vineyards and then the state-of-the-art winery. In the vineyards, you’ll discover the essential role of the English climate in cultivating a fruit that is distinct and packed with flavour. In the winery, you can see the ins and outs of the winemaking process from grape to bottle.
By now, all this exciting knowledge will have probably made you thirsty. Luckily, you can complete the outing in style with a tutored tasting of Chapel Down’s acclaimed range of wines.

What happens on the day?
On arrival at the Chapel Down Winery you will be greeted by your tour guide who will take you into the vineyards and the state of the art winery where the winemaking process from grape to glass will be explained.
Following this will be a tutored wine tasting of 6 to 7 wines.
Participant guidelines

- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
Tours are run daily from April to November and weekends in February and March. Booking is essential. Date restrictions may apply.
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. If you are looking for Weekend availability we recommend you book four months in advance. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow approximately 2 hours for the whole experience.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A really interesting and enjoyable tour
My husband and I really enjoyed the tour of the vineyard and wine tasting afterwards. Our guide Russell was very knowledgeable and clearly loves his job which made the whole experience really interesting. We followed the tour with lunch in The Swan restaurant and had a lovely day. We thoroughly recommend this tour.

A Great Day Out.
The whole day was fantastic. Beautiful countryside. A guide who had a through knowledge of the vineyard and combined that knowledge with entertaining rapport. The wine tasting introduced us to a range of lovely wines.

Worth the wait!
Due to the pandemic our experience had been delayed however it was the worth wait! Fabulous time spent at Chapel Down the staff were all so knowledgeable and helpful. Particularly Russell our tour guide. Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys good wine..

Great afternoon
The tour was well organised and covid safe. The tour guide (Alice) was very knowlegable and gave a very informative talk. The wines are lovely though a little expensive.

Excellent Tour with Knowledge Staff
We really enjoyed our tour and tasting at the vineyard. The guide we had was very friendly and knowledgeable and we tried a wide variety of drinks. Would definitely come again.

Really interesting
My daughter and I attended Russell’s 3pm tour on Saturday. Despite the weather Russell made it entertaining and he was funny throughout. The wines that we tasted were excellent and the whole afternoon was an enjoyable experience I totally recommend this.

A great experience in Kent
The guide was extremely knowledgable about all aspects of producing and consuming wine and helped to make the experience both entertaining and fascinating. There was more wine to taste than we could manage covering still and champagne like examples of the most expensive wines.

Great Experience
We had a wonderful tour with Chapel Down. The tour was led by a young lady called Charlie who was extremely knowledgeable and very entertaining. We were taken on a tour of the vineyard, grape pressing and shown how they make sparkling wine. All together with a short history of the vineyard. Athough we are extremely good at drinking the stuff we came away with a renewed desire and respect for the British wine. So it's goodbye to the cheap plonk. Thank you Chapel Down.

Good day out
Really interesting and enjoyable day. Learned a lot about the vines, the grapes and the wine making process and especially why English wines are so good today. The guide was very good and gave us in-depth descriptions of the individual wines during the tasting session. Would have been nice if there were a few crackers and cheese around to nibble at.

Really great experience!
We took a day off and went on the Friday before bank holiday. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t that great but we managed to do most of it inside. Tom, our guide was very knowledgeable and the wine was great. Lovely experience, just the right time length too. We sat in the grounds afterwards and had some wine. Def recommend!

A great couple of hours!
What a lovely way to spend a couple of hours in the Kent countryside. A very interesting and informative tour followed by a tasting of 6 great wines in a lovely tasting room. Thought it may be a bit strange due to social distancing etc but it didn’t and it felt great to be able to do something normal for a change! Just do it and enjoy.

Great value
Our wine tour with tasting was so worth the trip. The tour was informative without being too overwhelming and found it so interesting. The actual tasting was great, you got a decent amount in the glass to taste each wine aptly. I would fully recommend this to anyone. Great date or day out with friends. We will be returning.

Fantastic Experience
Recently visited the vineyard on a Virgin Experience. We were given a great tour by Russell, who was very informative and witty. We visited the vines and were then taken through the whole wine making process from grape to bottle. That was followed by the highlight of the tour, a wine tasting session, where we sampled six of the vineyards excellent wines, expertly led by Russell. Overall this was an excellent experience, which I would highly recommend.

Amazing experience!
This was an incredible tour and tasting experience I was bought as a present, and I will definitely be purchasing this for some other friends. You get a really interesting vineyard tour and then about 8 tasters. And more in the shop if you like. Lasts just over 2 hours and super enjoyable. Highly recommend

A great experience.
We were shown round parts of the winery and given information about the growing and cultivation of the vines and how the grapes were turned into wine. The we had a tasting session. The whole experience was excellent.

Great day out!
Our son bought us t(e vineyard tour for Christmas and it was worth waiting for. A gentle tour of the whole Chapel Down site and a very entertaining guide, Russell, who explained everything from grape to glass. Then plenty of time to enjoy the product!

A good treat for a birthday
Went to Chapel Down in Tenterden for a vineyard tour and wine tasting. It was an excellent 2 hours. Very informative guide Jo.. Excellent and informative wine tasting of 7 wines. Wine is great especially the Sparkling and Bachhus varieties.

Fantastic!!
We went here yesterday and had a fantastic time at the wine tasting and tour. With the virgin voucher it was a great deal. Our guide Tony was fabulous, very informative, funny and came across as a really nice man. We would highly recommend this and would definitely go back again.

Great tour at Chapel Down
We booked our wine tasting and tour for Chapel Down Winery in Tenterden and had Charlie as our guide. It was really interesting and she gave us loads of history of the vineyard and had great knowledge about the process and the English wine business in general. Some lovely wines were tasted after and was a great morning in general.

Chapel Down Winery
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and thought our guide, Charlie, was amazing. She very knowledgeably informed us about the vineyards, the grape growing, the picking, the pressing and the bottling. We then went in for the tasting - we were introduced to wines (which were excellent) and all was done by Charlie with expertise and a lot of humour. Our only reservation was that there was no place afterwards to have a light lunch or coffee. The smart restaurant was fully booked. A great day, however!

Wine tasting

Excellent facility and delicious products
The tour itself was good, but could have been better. However the tasting part was really good, with plenty of wines to sample and expert guidance on how to best appreciate them. The quality of the wines was excellent and there are other products e.g. Gin, that can be sampled in the shop. Good value for money!
