What happens on the day?
Arrive between 14.00 and 15.00 for check-in at the Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel. You’ll be directed to your twin or double room where you’ll find amenities such as a flat-screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities and an ensuite bathroom. Relax or head out to explore the local area. Following a restful night’s sleep, tuck into breakfast before check out between 10.00 and 11.00.
On arrival at the helipad in York, you’ll be given a full safety briefing by the ground crew before jumping into the rear of the helicopter to start your sightseeing tour. There’ll be up to two other people alongside you in the cabin, or one of you can upgrade to the co-pilot seat for an additional fee if you’d like to sit in the front. From then you’ll head out to see the city on a 25 mile journey, with the pilot pointing out all the local landmarks along the way. Cameras are more than welcome, so feel free to take as many pictures as you’d like.
Participant guidelines

- Minimum height: 5ft
- Maximum weight: 18 stone
- You should not take part if you suffer from epilepsy, vertigo or are pregnant
- You should be in reasonable health, if you have any disability or illness that may prevent you from taking part then you must discuss this with you GP before booking
- This experience is not suitable for spectators as participants can only be seen on the take off and landing
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Please book and take your experience before the expiry date.
One Night Stay
Your one night stay is available Sunday - Friday. If you would like a Saturday stay, please enquire at the time of booking, but please be aware there is very restricted availability for a Saturday. Date exclusions such as special or major events will apply.
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Check-in will be between 14.00 and 15.00 on the day of arrival and check out will be between 10.00 and 11.00 on the morning of departure.
Helicopter Flight
The experience is available on one weekend day per month from April to October.
We advise you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow approximately 1 hour for the whole experience, the flight time is approximately 15 minutes. Please ensure you arrive no later than 30 minutes before your flight unless otherwise stated on your email confirmation.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
