Friars Carse.
Lovely stay at the estate. Staff were excellent and all Covid precautions being followed. Food was great and only thing missing was a wee glass of wine with our meal. Will definately recommend. Only things I`d change was the paper cups in the room.... they`re useless.

Lovely location, staff and accommodation
Friars Carse is set in a wooded are next to the river Nidd; just to be able to walk out of the front door and see the view of the river is worth the stay all on it's own. The staff are really helpful and our room had a view over fields. The hotel is about 5 mls. north of Dumfries and is well located for the bsouth eastern area of Dumfries and Galloway, which includes the Solway coast.

Great Stay
We had a great time at Friars Carse and so did our dog Ted. We were all made so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was cosy and warm and the beautiful grounds were ideal for taking relaxing walks, seeing the wildlife, and taking in the fresh air. A lovely part of Scotland - we look forward to making a return visit in the near future.

Beautiful setting on the river bank
Excellent surroundings in tranquil setting. Suitable for shooting fishing folks, in Burns country so classic culture is available. Or bird and wildlife spotting /painting and sketching. Dog friendly even! So has something for everyone. Whisky distillery close by also and well worth visit.

Friar carse
Lovely hotel, lovely location and beautiful grounds, unfortunately let down by the food, the main menu seemed quite good but expensive, the other menu was rubbish,£30 for a £1 burger with chips and a a tough piece of gammon with cheap frozen chips very disappointed with this but lovely place to stay if you go out to eat.

Interesting history
Quaint comfortable clean and well equipped little cottage. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Only complaint was tea and coffee cool even though we asked for it to be served once we had been served with our breakfast.

2 night stay in tranquil Friars Carse Dumfries
2 night stay with breakfast in Friars Carse Hotel in a lovely setting on the River nith was very tranquil and excellent for recharging my batteries. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food in the restaurant was excellent with local fayre being served. Weather too was exceptional which made walking round the estate plrasant and we were more than ready for a drink in the garden when we got back. Enjoyable 2 nights at the hotel and time to see local sights too.

Virgin Experience Day
Our stay was bought as a present. The location of the estate is very lovely, and is a good base for exploring Dumfries and it's surrounding area. We visited many local towns, such as Ayr, Troon, Cockermouth, Creetown and had good time. You have to be prepared though to be given one of the cheaper rooms, and I have to say ours was disappointingly very small considering the pictures on the website. The mattress was too big for the bed base, and was not the most comfortable. Very friendly staff.

2 nights away....
A beautiful building, check-in member of staff was first class.... It's a 3 star hotel, so please expect what you pay for. The room was basic, and a little dated. Breakfast was included - and a good selection on offer. We opted to eat in Dumfries both nights. it's 50/50 at this stage if we would return
