Overview
Take a tour and tasting experience at the home of one of England’s oldest established vineyards, and East Anglia’s largest. Since the first vines were planted in 1972, the vineyard is now 18 acres and 17,000 vines strong and has produced nine varieties with some award-winners to boot.
You’ll kick off with a tea or coffee before heading out for a tour of the vineyard and winery. Situated in the rolling hills of Cambridgeshire, breathe in the scenery as your guide tells you all there is to know about wine production, right from grape to glass. After your tour, you’ll be able to sample their exceptional produce with a tutored tasting of five selected wines.
Following your tasting session, you can indulge in a spot of afternoon tea at the Hall’s bistro.

An informative day
An in depth informative presentation of how the vineyard works and why certain things are done in a particular way. Great tasting of 5 wines produced there and all the information about why certain years are better than others. All this was then followed by a beautifully presented 'afternoon tea'

Enjoyable Afternoon in Interesting Surroundings
Very well organised afternoon. Comprehensive and knowledgeable guide to wine production presented in an enjoyable and relaxed style. The tasting was informative although the wines sampled did not suit our palates. The afternoon tea was well presented and delicious.

This gift from our daughters was excellent led by a very well informed and interesting tour guide, who kept us all entertained throughout the vineyard tour and wine tasting session. He clearly knows his wine! Followed by a lovely afternoon tea. Really would recommend this tour if anyone is looking for a gift for a couple.

English wine is becoming best in show
Spectacular location for a fascinating few hours discovering why English wine is winning awards. A walk through rolling countryside to the vineyards is followed by a thorough explanation of the whole 3 year process , finishing in the bottling barn. Our guide stayed with us throughout the visit giving his expertise not only on wine but the history of our surroundings . Tasting was unhurried, thought provoking before a delicious afternoon tea. No pressure to buy but prices excellent

An excellent way to spend an afternoon!
The Chilford Hall tour, tasting and tea experience is definitely to be recommended. Jed was an engaging and informative host so we are very much the wiser about vine growing and wine making in England. It was interesting tasting the 5 offered wines after seeing the vines from which they are made. A delicious afternoon tea, including excellent scones, clotted cream and jam, rounded off the afternoon perfectly. A great Christmas present!!

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon
Chilford Hall is hidden away in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside and what a surprise it is! We didn’t expect to see such an interesting and fascinating house and gardens as well as the vineyard. The tour itself was confidently led by Graham, who really knows his stuff and enthusiastically shared his knowledge - we left knowing a lot more than when we arrived. Afternoon tea was delicious and the wine was excellent too. Would definitely recommend it for an enjoyable afternoon out.

Brilliant insight into wine production
Our guide was so knowledgeable, but explained the whole process of wine making. Starting with pruning the vines, and eradication of diseases, to the manual harvesting of the grapes. A lovely walk to and from the vineyard took us to the winery where the pressing, storing and ultimately bottling of the wine took place. Finally, tasting some of the wines, followed by an excellent tea with freshly baked scones, sandwiches and cakes, almost too much to eat. A first class and thoroughly enjoyable day.

Much better than expected.
The tour of the vineyard and wine making facility was very interesting and informative, though it was a round trip of one mile walking in 32°C heat so it was hard work!! But we were rewarded with a lovely afternoon tea which was good quality and wine tasting of 5 different wines. It was a great afternoon and I would definitely recommend it.

A summer day to remember!
A glorious afternoon with an exceptional Guide named Geoff who had a great passion for his work & knew everything from growing the vines to the end product of the matured wine. We enjoyed the wine tasting & delicious tea including the company of a young couple with whom we had great fun & were a joy to be with. Altogether a perfect day out thanks to the gift from our son & family in Australia.

An excellent afternoon at Chilford Hall Vineyard
The day was supported by a very knowledgeable winemaker/ guide and we learnt many new facts about English wines. The tour of the vineyard and the cellar was very informative. Winetasting session was interesting, tasting 5 wines from the vineyard. The afternoon tea was superb and the whole group really enjoyed the afternoon. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Managed to bring a case of wine home!

Lovely day at the Vineyard
I bought the Vineyard tour with afternoon tea as a birthday treat for my Mum. We both had a lovely day. Our tour guide Graham was very informative about the process and certainly got us very interested in English wines. The wine tasting was lovely, all very nice wines and was really interesting to understand more about what we were tasting. That was then followed up by a delicious afternoon tea - one of the best I’ve had in a while! Would highly recommend this as a lovely day out.

Vineyard experience
My friend and I had a lovely day and Richard was excellent but the disappointment really was not being able to go into the distillary so we could see the process of how the wine is made . That is a big part of the whole experience. Regards Jean Minchinton

Chilford Hall
Graham was a great guide, very knowledgeable in his subject. Tour of vineyard was interesting, we had lovely weather. Wine tasting and afternoon tea both delicious. Would have like the price to include a second pot of tea, rather than just having our original tea pot topped up with more hot water (made weak tea). At home we realised that we hadn't been given our 'personalised gift bag' we read that the experience included this.

Vineyard Tour & Tasting
We had a group your of Chilford Hall vineyard and winery followed by a wine tasting session and afternoon tea. The tour involves a half mile walk to the vinyard and a very interesting and entertaining explanation and talk by the host. Then the half mile walk back to the winery for a talk on wine production. We then tasted 5 Chilford wines and had a lovely traditional afternoon tea. A very nice three hours on a sunny afternoon. Highly recommended.

Excellent
The voucher code didn't work to book online. Phone calls went unanswered. Eventually I was able to leave a message and I emailed. Result! Both were answered and I booked our experience. We upgraded to a wine experience with lunch rather than tea. Excellent day. All ran smoothly. Our guide was interesting and enthusiastic. The wine tasting relaxed and informative. Lunch was simple but food fresh and tasty. Well worth it.

Lovely vineyard
Vineyard tour was very interesting and the tour guide was informative and funny. The wine was not the best we have had. The afternoon tea was a little disappointing, the cakes were too sweet and the bread was a bit hard, like it had been prepared in the morning and left to sit out. Pretty place though.

Disappointed I had to stand for so long
Our guide was very informative and pleasant but we had half a mile walk to the vines which we new about but then we had to stand for 45 minutes and listen to all the information, it was very hot and we could not sit down. I would suggest that we were given a slide show to start with showing all the stages of the growing and then just walked to the vines. We also then had to stand again for a further 20 minutes in the distillery, I am 70, fairly active but I was very pleased to sit down.
