What happens on the day?

Stepping aboard at your chosen station, you’ll be welcomed with Champagne, orange juice and morning pastries, before enjoying a full English breakfast or brunch.

You will enjoy picturesque views of the English countryside rolling past en route to your chosen destination; once you arrive, you can head out to enjoy the surroundings as you wish or you can join one of the optional excursions, bookable in advance at additional cost.

Your return journey will take place in the authentic surroundings of a 1950s or ‘60s carriage decorated with table lamps and curtains, where you’ll be served a delicious four-course meal, with finishing touches including canapes, amuse bouche and a bottle of wine to share to make the evening a truly special one.

Please note you will be seated at a shared table for four people. If you wish to book a table for two please mention when making your booking and discuss payment of the upgrade fee.

The Steam Dreams Rail Co. welcomes disabled passengers on our trains. Wheelchair and mobility scooter passengers need to be aware that there are steps up to the vintage carriages which they will have to use, passengers must also walk a short distance from the door to their seat. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters must be of the fold-up variety and will be stored in the guards van and cannot be used onboard the train. Unfortunately they are not able to provide wheelchairs. Availability

The experience runs on selected dates throughout the year, subject to availability. Exclusions apply for Flying Scotsman trips, Christmas Carols and shopping specials.

We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.

Please allow 4 to 15 hours for the full experience, depending on destination chosen.

What about insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

How it works

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.

Sadly a steam dream it wasn't. The steam loco that was to pull the lovely Pullman carriages over the last leg of the journey from London to Kingswear was unavailable due to a technical problem and, as this may have been their reserve loco, no other steam loco was apparently available, so it was diesel all the way! The staff were fantastic, attentive and good fun. However, dinner was disappointing, the beef fillet over-cooked, tough to cut and the potato fondant cold. Not a steam dream at all.
