Sample the blacksmithing world whilst surrounded by beautiful Herefordshire countryside with this Forge Your Own Knife.
In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, discover the fundamentals of knife-making and learn the traditional techniques involved. The expert team will guide you through the entire design process, offering a number of their own designs or help with creating your own.
From start to finish, this is a very hands-on experience and by the end of the day, you’ll have your very own forged knife to take home. Perfect for a variety of occasions, this adventure offers something for everyone.

What happens on the day?
Upon arrival at the Oldfield Forge, you’ll be welcomed by one of their resident blacksmiths before learning more about the fundamentals of knife-making and the traditional techniques. Your blacksmith with then help you to forge your very own bespoke knife, which you’ll be able to take home at the end of your session.

Participant guidelines
- Minimum age: 18
- The Oldfield Forge require a Health & Safety form to be completed by all participants attending the forging experiences. This form will be sent to you upon confirmation of your booking with all the details you will require for the day
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
This experience is available seven days a week throughout the year. Excluded dates will apply.
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
The experience last approximately 6 hours. Please arrive at the forge at least 10 minutes prior to your booking time - this allows time to introduce you to your blacksmith and run through the Health & Safety requirements..
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
