Land yachting has been around for hundreds of years, starting off as entertainment for the nobility before becoming the sleek and exciting sport of today. These modern land yachts are capable of speeds over 40 mph, so expect a rush of adrenaline as you travel inches off the ground driven by nothing but the wind. You’ll be given expert training on a specially-designed course before heading out onto the open plains to discover what your land yacht can do.
You’ll be sharing your land yacht between the two of you, but you’ll each have plenty of time in the driving seat. This is probably the fastest you’ll ever move without an engine beneath your feet, making for a pretty unusual thrill ride!

Land yachting is now classed an an extreme sport and I can see why!! We only had winds of 12 miles per hour on the day we had our try but we could still belt along at a decent lick of speed!! I can only imagine how quick we would have gone if it had been windier. Great fun and a great experience!! Would highly recommend this experience. Andy, our instructor has loads of experience and recently won an award for one of the best experiences in Kent. Superb!!

What happens on the day?
On arrival at the land yacht centre you’ll be greeted by one of the highly-trained instructors before being given a full safety briefing and starter tuition in the correct handling techniques.
As the yachts have no brakes, your instruction will start with stopping safely before moving on the more advanced steering skills on a special land yacht course. Once you’ve mastered the basics you’ll head out to find out what these amazing vehicles are capable of, with each of you taking a turn in the driving seat as you’ll be sharing a yacht over the duration of your experience.

Participant guidelines
- Minimum age: 16
- Maximum weight: 16 stone
- Reasonable agility is required to get into the craft, so if you have any concerns please discuss them with the centre. Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness
- Spectators are welcome
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
Courses run 7 days a week all year round - exclusions may apply. Most Day Courses start at 10.00 but please check when you book a date for the activity. There is a £10 supplement for weekend and bank holiday bookings (payable when booking).
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow approximately 2 hours for the whole experience.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

“Fantastic Fun”
What a great experience. Andy aka Fishy was a great instructor and I would recommend this to anyone. Every time I filmed my wife coming by on her land yacht all you could here was her laughing, even above the noise of the wind and it was windy. We will be doing it again for sure. Thanks Andy (fishy)

A really great experience. The staff were friendly and informative and land yachting is great fun. It's a little scary at first but once you've done a couple of laps you really pick it up quickly. I would recommend this experience to anyone.
