Private Bespoke Ceramics Workshop with Katherine Fortnum
About this experience
Enjoy a creative afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere in this Private Bespoke Ceramics Workshop with award-winning ceramicist Katherine Fortnum.
You decide what you’d like to create! Discuss with Katherine prior to attending so she can tailor a bespoke workshop for you. Your session begins with a demonstration of how to create your chosen ceramic item, where you’ll be guided through the skills needed, with options to explore a variety of techniques. You’ll create an item from scratch, before adding decoration and colour.
Your finished creation will be carefully dried out over several weeks and bisque fired in the kiln for 24 hours, before being available for collection roughly 8 weeks after your session, ready to take pride of place at home.

What happens on the day?
On arrival you’ll be welcomed and offered a beverage to take to your studio session. Your ceramic experience will be taught by Katherine Fortnum, an award-winning, degree qualified ceramicist with over 7 years’ experience working with clay. She’ll be there to guide you step by step through the process.
Your session will begin with a demonstration of how to create your chosen ceramic item (you can discuss this with Katherine via email before your workshop), where you’ll be guided through the skills you need to make your unique handmade piece. Having made your piece from scratch, decorated and coloured it, you’ll leave it at the studio for it to be dried out over several weeks and bisque fired in the kiln to 1000 degrees for 24 hours. Once it’s ready, you can collect it from the studio, or arrange postage for an additional £10.
