Lovely unexpected break
Me and my husband had a one night break in Stratford with breakfast and dinner and a cruise on the river. It was a lovely present. Easy to book, hotel was much nicer than one we would book ourselves. This was a Christmas present from my son. A lovely surprise!

Beautiful setting
The Manor House is a beautiful old building with winding corridors, quaint rooms and a magnificent topiary garden. The staff are very pleasant and friendly and provide a quality service. There wasn’t a vast choice of food but what was on offer was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The breakfast was plentiful and hot. Even in October the hotel was warm and inviting. The whole experience from booking it to checking out was easy and simple

A worthwhile mini-break
The hotel is amazing, we were upgraded to the wedding Suite so had a 4 poster bed, and a large room. It would have been 5 stars but for some poor attention to detail. We stayed (and paid for) an extra night, so the moans are more pertinent. Hairdryer missing from the room, requested one twice, it arrived the morning we left! At breakfast we had to ask twice for a missing 2nd cup before we could have a drink! Wasps nests around hotel causing havoc if wanting to sit outside - need removing, etc.!

Really lovely hotel but unable to do the cruise
We went into Stratford Upon Avon to do the river cruise only to find out they cancelled the 40 min cruise and only doing a 15 min cruise instead. They said we could do the 15 min cruise and refund us half the value of the ticket (£7) but it wasn't worth it. The hotel was lovely. I told them before arrival we were celebrating my boyfriends birthday and a card and chocolates were in the room waiting for us. The room was clean and pleasent and the dining was lovely. The chapel is worth a visit too.

A relaxing mid-week break
We had a relaxing mid-week break. The food and service at the hotel were very good and the spa was lovely. As said elsewhere on reviews, the decor in the hotel was tired - eg ripped furnishings / stains on curtains / curtains not opening and closing properly - could just do with updating, but overall a lovely spot to sit on the terrace with a drink! The cruise on the Avon was also very relaxing.

Nice wouldn't rush back
Lovely hotel, needs a lot of work doing on it, which is on going. We had room 63 in the main house which was tiny. Wallpaper hanging off a huge lump in the carpet which we constantly fell up. Hubby has hurt his back falling over it. Did feel a bit like you haven't paid for this so we've put you in the cupboard. Spa lovely. Food really nice, but menu needs to be a lot clearer ordered gnocchi no mention of olives which were a nasty surprise. No evening entertainment. Coombe abbey 100 times nicer.

Only ok
Whilst the grounds and public areas are beautiful, the room was disappointing. When we opened up the bed the duvet cover was stained badly. Also the back of the curtains and the radiator were filthy. The whole room looked tired and long over due a makeover. Would not stay again

Mixed
The grounds and hotel were amazing but the room we were given was very disappointing and not even located in the main hotel but in an annex across the car park. Upon complaint we were given a better room but the initial happiness we felt at seeing the hotel had vanished. The dinner was delicious and there was plenty of choice. The leisure facilities were good and the boat trip was wonderful. I would hesitate to recommend Virgin experiences to my family in case they were given a poor quality room
