What happens on the day?
Your experience will begin with an illustrated briefing given by an expert astronomer at the airport or a nearby hotel, which will last for approximately 1 hour. You’ll learn how the flight will operate and the sights that will be visible from the plane, before boarding and taking off as the sun sets.
From there, you’ll head towards Iceland. Roughly 25 minutes before you reach the holding point, the cabin will be made as dark as possible to allow your eyes to adapt, before taking in the incredible sights of the Aurora Borealis. With a professional astronomer on board, you’ll get to learn the secrets behind this natural wonder as you take it all in. On the journey back, you can enjoy light refreshments.

Fantastic!
From the start to the end of the experience we found it to be interesting, informative and breathtaking. A smooth flight in a clean and comfortable plane. Sadly the Northern Lights were not in their full glory but the stars were just amazing and well worth it. It was fun trying to change seats in the dark . A truly great experience. Would highly recommend

Great night out
A fantastic flight all well organised even down to the black tape to blackout lights in the plane. We saw great show of the northern lights, cosmic dust and all the star constellations. Great.

Absolutely magical
The northern lights experience we went on was a perfect experience. Flying up and experiencing the lights, stars and milky way was a moment we will never forget. The passion from our astronomers throughout the flight was out of this world and helped make the experience more memorable as they explained exactly what we were looking out for and the crew on the flight were exceptional. We can't thank you enough for this experience and only hope others are as lucky as we are. Thank you.

Very interesting experience
Brilliant experience despite the Aurora Borealis being very dim on the night we did the flight. The stars were amazing from the darkened cabin and the commentary from Nigel and Peter was fantastic.

Enjoyes the Experiance but no Northern Lights
Experience was pretty good. We arrived at the Hotel near the airport for the initial presentation, very informative. The flight was a different experience, all the lights were turned out on the plane, so it gave you a feeling of being in space, especially when our eyes adjusted and the starts started to come through. unfortunatley no Northern Lights, which were the whole point of the experience. Nature has it's own ideas - so althought it was fun, we were in the end dissapointed.

Northern lights flight
Although we did not see as much of the lights as we would have liked to the trip was still brilliant, the stars made up for the weak Aurora and the commentary was great. Thank you.

Spectacular Sky over the UK
Omega provided an excellent experience. Sofitel Gatwick was fine location for the presentation and dinner. Astronomers were very, knowledgable , amusing and friendly. Tui Airline were most helpful with making the Boeing 737 as dark as possible to enhance the chance of seeing the Northern Lights and particularly the NIght Sky.

A different experience
Booked through virgin experience or so I thought? Only to get correspondence from omega , to which you had to mess about going back to the booking to put codes in so omega gets their money to messy for a day trip. have to meet at a hotel for a talk before the airport, time consuming and they even named wrong hotel which made us late. Told us at airport check in nobody would be seated over the wing? We sat in the middle of the wing disappointing. Didn’t see the aurora not lucky enough ☹️

Disappointing admin spoiled
Admin spoiled my experience of the Northern lights. We were told, in writing, that we must park in the long stay carpark 2. But there is no long term carpark 2, so we spent many frustrating minutes looking for signs to this carpark. Secondly we were advised that we did not need to bring passports because the flight would never leave it airspace, but on arriving at check-in, the first thing we were asked for was our passports. Also we feel we were misled about clarity of the naked eye view.

Disappointed
Whilst it is accepted that this is a natural phenomenon, it is equally clear from the presentations that what is likely to be seen in flight with the human eye is highly unlikely to be as vivid as the images shown in the marketing of the Virgin Experience. As such it can only be described as a disappointment.

Northern lights flight.
To be fair, the chances of seeing the Northern lights is about 50/50, and if you can see it it may not necessarily be what you’re expecting. The seat shuffling is a challenge, however the astronomers are very good and know their stuff. You would probably enjoy it more if you know a little/lot about the stars.

Northern Lights
This day had the makings of an unforgettable experience but: 1 .Welcome refreshments should be included considering the cost as should an opportunity for a question answer session with Astronomers 2. Too many people/too large a plane (3 seats across) means that most of the time you can't see out of the window - I was separated from my husband during the experience - he was one side of the plane I was the other. 3. Should be a choice of sandwich on the plane. 4. Would not recommend.
