The incredible views inside and around St James' Park all add up to an awesome, spine-tingling and exhilarating journey. Those on the tour will get unprecedented access and magnificent views of the city and beyond, in what in many ways is a sightseeing tour rather than a St James' Park stadium tour. That said, you do get a superb, if not distant, view of the pitch.
With binoculars in hand you can try to spot some of Newcastle’s other landmarks and sights, from the Civic Centre and Leazes Park to the north and The Baltic, The Sage and bridges Millennium and Tyne to the south, and the distant North Sea ironically to the east, there’s plenty of breathtaking sights to take in while you’re standing around way above this special city.

“Fantastic ”
We were given tickets last Christmas and it was well worth the journey up from Devon. Fantastic views and very friendly tour guides. My only complaint is that I was unable to actually speak to a human at Virgin about extending the date in my tickets so we had to use them right away. There is no telephone contact and the live chat didn’t work so I had use Twitter. I wouldn’t personally use Virgin again I would go straight to the location for tickets

What happens on the day?
On arrival at St James’ Park (in good time for your pre-booked tour) you’ll sign in at reception before starting off with a short briefing on what to expect along with health and safety guidelines and a chance to see some of the famous landmarks in the briefing room. You will be given a hard hat and hi visibility-vest to wear for the duration of the tour. Binoculars will also be available. Once up on the roof two expert rooftop tour guides will provide a running commentary, at three viewing platforms, of interesting aspects of the city skyline and beyond.
Your tour will finish on pitch side so you can see a different perspective of the roof and the height you have just visited, with more great photo opportunities.

Participant guidelines
- Under 16s must be accompanied by a full paying adult
- Minimum height: 4ft
- To take a roof top tour you must :
Complete a declaration form in the presence of your guide
Have a reasonable fitness level
Inform your Roof Top guide of any current medical conditions which may impact on your ability to participate in the tour. - You cannot take part in the Roof Top tour if you:
Are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Have undergone surgery in the past 6 months or have any broken bones
Are over 24 weeks pregnant (participants less than 24 weeks must seek medical advice in advance of their visit and must produce a doctor’s certificate in order to take part in the tour.) - Because the roof top tour operates at height and includes climbing, walking on a narrow walkway and exposure to all types of weather, it is important to note that the following may impact on your ability to participate:
Heart conditions / angina
Vertigo / dizziness / fear of heights / loss of balance
Respiratory conditions
Visual impairment
Depression
Epilepsy
Back, joint or limb injuries
Severe or uncontrolled asthma
A seizure or fit in the past six months - The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
This experience is available on selected Saturdays and Sundays from May to September at 12.00 and 14.00. The voucher cannot be used on a match day and other date restrictions may apply. Please contact the supplier at the time of booking for updated availability.
Bookings must be made one week in advance. All bookings are subject to availability.
Tours take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the booked tour time.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

“Awe inspiring new perspectives! ”
Brilliantly guided by Brian and Alan, this St James's Park rooftop tour was literally awe inspiring. We got to see the club and the great city of Newcastle from some completely new and unforgettable perspectives. Highly recommended!
“Brilliant tour”
Had a great visit to do the rooftop tour at St James Park. Some fantastic views over Newcastle and the surrounding area with some interesting facts thrown in. Brian and Alan who guided the tour were brilliant too. Seeing the pitch from this height was great and although a bit blowy at times we felt 100% safe at all times. An added bonus of going pitchside was great too. I'd certainly do it again especially on a warm clear day!!
