About this experience
Speed along and try your hand something different with this exciting morning of Land Yachting for Two.
You may have seen these vehicles zipping around, powered by nothing but the wind and reaching speeds of over 40 mph, and now’s your chance to get into the driving seat and feel the speed for yourself. You’ll get a land yacht each so you’ll both have plenty of time to get to grips with the controls, practising on a course designed to hone your skills before heading out onto the open plain to really get the wind in your sails.
These ultra-modern land yachts can travel three or four times faster than the wind speed, so even on a moderately calm day you should be shooting along hair-raisingly fast mere inches from the ground. An expert tutor will be on hand at all times to ensure you get the most that you can from your land-yacht, so expect an adrenaline-fuelled thrill ride from beginning to end and a sporting experience unlike any other.

“Great fun!”
Really enjoyed the experience. It was easy to learn how to control the yacht and there was plenty of time to navigate the circuit and improve skills. Friendly & helpful staff. Lessons can only go ahead if there is enough wind though and confirmed on the day. Our first booking was cancelled the day before. Beware, the ride is very hard & bumpy and we both ended up with sore bums for the next couple of days! All in all worth it for the experience though.

What happens on the day?
On arrival at the land yacht centre you’ll be greeted by one of the highly-trained instructors before being given a full safety briefing and starter tuition in the correct handling techniques.
As the yachts have no brakes, your instruction will start with stopping safely before moving on the more advanced steering skills on a special land yacht course. Once you’ve mastered the basics you’ll head out to find out what these amazing vehicles are capable of, and with a land yacht each to drive you can easily find out which one of you has done the best job of mastering the skills.

- Minimum age: 16
- Maximum weight: 16 stone
- Reasonable agility is required to get into the craft, so if you have any concerns please discuss them with the centre. Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness
- Spectators are welcome
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
Courses run 7 days a week all year round - exclusions may apply. Most Day Courses start at 10.00 but please check when you book a date for the activity. There is a £10 supplement for weekend and bank holiday bookings (payable when booking).
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow approximately 2 hours for the whole experience.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

This was a great introduction to land yachting. The equipment was easy to manoeuvre, the instructor and staff were knowledgeable and helpful and the area where we carried out the activity was perfect, both private and near to various facilities. We will be going land yachting again and would strongly recommend this as an introduction to the sport. Do it, you won’t be disappointed!
