This Gin and Cocktail Tasting for Two is perfect for those with a penchant for the unconventional and a passion for the world of booze. Located in the thriving heart of East Oxford, The Mad Hatter welcomes you through unassuming doors to reveal an eccentric and beguiling speakeasy, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
Kick things off with a welcome drink as your session begins with an introduction, before getting stuck in to the thick of things. You’ll be learning all about gin’s chequered past and its production, going through the different styles (with a generous helping of samples to match), and debunking the myths of the spirit dubbed ‘Mother’s ruin.’
Led by award-winning mixologists, you can wash down your new knowledge with three spirit tasters, three cocktail samples and top it all off by sharing one of the Mad Hatter’s legendary Teapot cocktails.

What happens on the day?
On arrival at The Mad Hatter, you’ll kick things off with a welcome drink and an introduction.
From there, you’ll be taken on a journey of all things gin, with an expert mixologist taking you through its past, production and debunking common myths. A delicious selection of drinks will be spread out over the course of the session, including one of The Mad Hatter’s Teapot cocktails to share.

- Minimum age: 18
- Spectators are welcome - participants should inform the venue in advance if they plan on bringing spectators, who must all be aged over 18
- Please note that the bar operates a responsible drinking policy and reserves the right to refuse service
- The venue is unable to provide disabled access or wheelchair accessible bathrooms
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
The experience is available Tuesday to Friday from 18.00 to 20.00 and Saturdays 17.00 to 20.00.
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow 1 hour 30 minutes for the full experience. Please note this experience can be a group class and if the group size exceeds 12 or more please allow 2 hours.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
