Fire Engine Driving plus Green Goddess Passenger Ride
About this experience
Go off the beaten track for an unforgettable driving experience with a difference. This double-header will see you take the wheel of a V8 powered fire engine before hopping aboard the Green Goddess herself for a passenger ride in the iconic Bedford RLHZ.
First up is the driving seat. Your instructor will talk you through the controls before you set off. With its automatic gearbox and power steering, the beast is remarkably easy to drive. Set off with 240bhp at your feet. You’ll stop off to try some more complicated manoeuvres including reverse parking and the ‘wall test.’ Your instructor will be with you every step of the way.
Then it’s time to switch over to the passenger side for a ride around the country’s best-preserved WW2 bomber station. It’ll feel a bit like being in a film as you speed around in the phenomenal Green Goddess, restored back to its 1950s finest ready for a classic run.

What happens on the day?
On arrival, you’ll be signed in before heading over to the Dennis V8 fire engine. Your instructor will give you a quick instructional briefing before you’re let loose on the roadways. Then it’ll be time to drive as you speed about in this amazing vehicle.
After your drive, you’ll take to the passenger seat for an unforgettable ride in a Bedford ‘Green Goddess.’ Go back in time as your instructor takes you round the best-preserved WW2 bomber station in the UK.

Participant guidelines
- Minimum age: 18
- Minimum height: 4ft 6in
- Maximum height: 6ft 4in
- Weight should be in proportion to your height
- Fitness/Health: You should be in reasonable health and able to climb in and out of the vehicle. This experience is not suitable for those with epilepsy, heart complaints or pregnant ladies
- Please note: anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to participate
- All participants must have held a full driving licence for at least 12 months and present the original on the day
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
Your voucher is valid for nine months from the date of issue, kindly note that you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.
The experience takes place on Thursdays and Saturdays and selected other days from February to December.
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.

What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
