Scrumptious afternoon tea
Lovely deluxe afternoon tea at Farington Lodge, Leyland. Good choice of 2 sandwich fillings each, scone with jam and cream, selection of 3 cakes, unlimited coffee or tea - what's not to like? The staff at Farington Lodge were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience very enjoyable. All the food was prepared freshly on our arrival.

Excellent afternoon tea!
My wife and I were gifted this afternoon tea experience by two of my work colleagues. We were both off work for the week, so we decided to book. The booking was a doddle and we were able to get the date and time we requested. The food was fantastic! double layer sandwiches (very filling!), a selection of cakes and a scone each, plus either tea or coffee. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating, and the dining room was nice, with views out to the gardens. A very pleasant experience!

Absolutely Fantastic Afternoon Tea
What an amazing afternoon tea, I doubt it could be surpassed. Amazingly fresh sandwiches, beautiful fillings, and fantastic cakes, and a beautiful scone with jam and of course clotted cream. The location was fantastic, and the service was excellent. A constant supply of tea (allowing us to try different flavours) was on offer. Very definitely recommended to anyone who likes afternoon tea in very civilised surroundings.

Afternoon tea at Farington Lodge
Solidly elegant 'old money' surroundings but easily reached from Preston or Wigan. Lovely staff, beautiful grounds and a 'tea' that was deceptively filling. Don't fall for the dainty finger sandwiches line - these sandwiches are cleverly presented to look dainty but would fill a navvy's lunchbox nicely. Excellent choice of fillings - recommend the smoked salmon and the roast beef especially. Delicious cakes and scones. A lovely experience.

Deluxe Afternoon Tea
Had a lovely Deluxe Afternoon Tea at Farington Lodge, the staff were attentive and the chef went out of his way to provide a gluten free selection at short notice. After our afternoon tea we sat out in the sunshine overlooking the well kept gardens. All in all a very good experience.

Fabulous afternoon tea but...
The welcome and service were both great. The food was fantastic - the first time ever we've been given a choice of sandwiches. The sandwiches were freshly made and delicious. The cakes and scones were absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately the experience was spoilt as we were put in a small side room with others. There was hardly any views - it was such a pity as the dining room (which was empty) has wonderful views over the garden. Please make use of your wonderful garden!

Mum and Daughter Afternoon Tea
Lovely venue and gardens. we were offered a choice of sandwiches, and received 6 finger sandwiches each. There was a nice selection of cakes, we enjoyed carrot cake, apple pie, lime cheesecake and a scone with clotted cream and jam. We also had a trifle each which was very tasty. Although the cakes were nice I didn’t feel they were exceptional. We were offered tea and coffee but the coffee was awful and only Luke warm, and the waitress didn’t return so I was unable to let her know.

Good but could be better
Surroundings absolutely beautiful and a characterful hotel. Staff helpful but coud be a little bit more attentive when taking and serving order. Regarding the cakes, the scones were rather small and the choice of cakes was poor to middling. With an afternoon tea I would have expected a slice of Victoria Sandwich. Battenberg is O.K but not everyone likes marzipan. Eclairs could have been bigger, although they were delicious.

Could be better
Lovely elegant surroundings and smart friendly staff. Very surprised that the cucumber sandwiches were cut in chunks when traditionally cucumber should be sliced thinly. These arrived a good 15 minutes after our tea which was served without the accompaniment of a pot of hot water so I had to ask for that.

Birthday treat
Nice place, plesently staff, parking. As with many afternoon Teas, too many cakes and not enough savoy. Unlimited tea was mentioned but only offered two small pots between two people. All in all OK been to better.

Deluxe Afternoon Tea
Whilst a pleasant venue, we were disappointed not to be seated in the Garden Room as advertised & sat next to a wall in a smaller "Morning Room" which was cold & lacked atmosphere. Sandwich choice was excellent & very fresh but scones were small & hard & cake selection very basic.

Afternoon tea - Sandwiches were very nice especially the roast beef. Scones and clotted cream very tasty, enjoyed the meringue and cream. chocolate cake was inedible, tasted strongly of baking powder, had to complain. the waiter swooped one chocolate cake for another meringue, however everyone left their chocolate cake on the tables surrounding us

Disappointed afternoon tea
The trifle was warm, the strawberry cheesecake was soggy. My husband and I both ate the coronation chicken sandwiches . We have had terrible diarrhoea .since eating it . The venue was pleasant enough. The reception staff were busy with a wedding and appeared indifferent to us . This experience was a Christmas present to us and we had waited until summer to enjoy it . What a big disappointment . We journeyed for 20 miles to the venue . My husband is 70 and I am almost 65. We were really upset

Afternoon Tea
Not impressed. Cracked tea cup and replaced ourselves from another table and informed the waiter, not friendly in our view, didn't ask how we were doing, long brown hair on the plate (didn't mention) as no point -should have but ready to go to be honest within minutes, sandwich bread-too thick, beef stringy and chewy, didn't like the taste of the brown cake and left. Did take a few items that were left and had to sign a disclaimer saying we wouldn't complain -didn't feel right about that and seems barmy. Didn't eat what we took away -anyway. Other things as well but not mentioning as will not be returning.

Very disapointing.
This is the second time we have been for afternoon tea at Faringdon Lodge and it's been a very disappointing experience both times. The sandwiches were stale and we had to send them back. The pastry was very salty and the cakes were old and the whole selection seemed to be thrown together from left overs. It's surprising that a wedding venue as beautiful at Faringdon Lodge cuts corners on their afternoon tea. I won't be visiting the hotel again.
