Try your hand at the art of clay pigeon shooting together.
Clay Pigeon shooting requires you to fire cartridges at clay ‘pigeons’ as they are launched into the air. You’ll be briefed on health and safety and taught how to use the equipment with coaching from experienced professionals. Steady your hand, keep your eyes on the prize and feel the buzz as you pull the trigger. Steadily increasing in popularity across the UK, the sport is enjoyed by men and women of all ages. We really enjoyed the clay pigeon shooting. Virgin are just rubbish though. Even this review process is rubbish. My advice is to find an alternative route to getting this experience.
What's Included
- Full training from an experienced instructor
- Each will get use of a shotgun and hearing protection
- Each will receive clays and cartridges, number depends on location (most are 50). There are 60 ‘laser clays’ at Highland location

What happens on the day?
On arrival at the venue you will be met by your instructor who will give you your guns and ear protection. Then you will be escorted to the clay pigeon site to watch a demonstration. You’ll receive full, thorough instruction throughout the clay pigeon shooting session so you can improve with every shot. Challenge each other to see who can hit the most targets.
You’ll then receive a debriefing of your lesson and some handy tips from your instructor should either of you wish to carry on with the sport.

Participant guidelines
- Minimum age: 16 (under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian)
- If you suffer from any illness or medical condition that may affect you during this experience you must discuss this with the centre before booking
- Pregnant women and people suffering from back problems would be discouraged from taking part as the guns are quite heavy and there is sometimes a kick back when fired
- Family and friends are more than welcome to come along and watch, free of charge
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary according to location
Availability
Most centres are open all year round from 10.00 to 17.00. Occasional Bank Holidays and weekends are unavailable – please check with the venue on booking.
Barby Sporting (Rugby) operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays only.
We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow approximately 1 hour (up to 2 hours 30 minutes at Highland location depending on numbers on the day) for the whole experience.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
