The nursery produces and sells everything from the freshest hand-picked chillies, to stunning chilli plants, through to the most mouth-watering, gourmet sauces. The two of you are sure to have an interesting, eye watering experience at this dedicated chilli nursery in Bedfordshire.

What's Included

What happens on the day?
You’ll be escorted around the nursery with your expert guide who will delve into the history of the chillies grown in the nursery, from the medium hot Jalapeño Pepper to the fiery Carolina Reapers.
Pick up tips and recipe ideas and even learn about their natural health benefits. The two of you will also visit the shop where you will try the delicious gourmet sauces. Samples of the sauces and fresh chillies will be available for you to taste so you can decide which you want to pick for yourself and take home, ready to use in your next meal.
Participant guidelines
- Minimum age: 16 (under 18’s need to be accompanied by a paying adult)
- You must have a reasonable level of fitness to take part and be able to walk unaided as there is uneven ground
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue, kindly note that you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.
This experience is available on selected dates from mid April to the end of October. The nursery activities change throughout the year, so you may see seeds being sown to full on chilli picking. Chillies usually start fruiting from June onwards.
Weekend dates will be booked early so we suggest you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. All bookings and dates are subject to availability.
This experience can last up to 1 hour 30 minutes. Tour times will vary depending on weather conditions, the first normally takes place at 10.30 and the last at 14.00.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

Worth going!
A great informative fun tour if you’re interested in chillis. We learned a lot and the tasting of different jams and sauces really tested the taste buds! Would highly recommend it, great value too.

Really informative and enjoyable
We have recently been on the Chilli Tour and Tasting and found it a really enjoyable and informative experience. We hadn't realised there was so much we didn't know about chilies and tasting at the end of the morning brought all the information we had previously learnt, to life. Would definitely recommend.

Hot and Spicy
Spent a brilliant couple of hours learning about chillis, how they grow, how they are rated for their heat levels & then experiencing their taste & a range of products made using chillis. The presentation & tour was put across perfectly & made the whole afternoon most enjoyable Social distancing etc. was very well observed & the phrase using Covid Sense seemed so apt Shawn was a great guy, very knowledgeable & very entertaining We also purchased chillis & plants at great prices.

Very interesting tour with a bite at the end!
My wife and I went on the Tour and Chilli tasting. Shawn, his wife, family and the team made the visit very interesting and informative. After an explanation about the company and types of Chillies grown, we were shown the tunnel houses and products produced from them. We then tried a range of chilli varieties, Shawn had selected for us. They varied from v. mild to v. HOT. A very worth while visit and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Shawn and the team.....

A must for the chilli enthusiast
We had previously been on shauns chilli growing workshop earlier this year and gained some very valuable tips for this growing season, coming back later in the year to share our experiences and taste the fruits of our labours was also very informative and more questions answered. Our host is extremely knowledgable, experienced and welcoming. Well done bud and thanks for all the great tips.

the chilli tour was so much better than i was expecting. Whilst it was advertised as 1.5h (quite short), it lasted 2h, and was very pleasant. The staff/owners were extremely friendly. The man (sorry, forgot his name) who went through everything there was to know about chillis, farming, and the history. He was a great speaker, and there was no pressure on anything. An initial talk on the history, a wade through the chilli farm, and the types, followed by a ... not enough room for more text!

Great fun afternoon...
The owner's enthusiasm for chillies was infectious & it was great to learn the history behind this imaginative enterprise. Tasting of home made chilli based produce was delicious and the chilli tasting was kind of a twisted version of Russian roulette for me but there was plenty of milk on hand to soothe the pallette!! Really enjoyed it & can thoroughly recommend.

Brilliant experience - wether or not you are a chilli fan, this experience opens your eyes (in more ways than you think!) Excellent and passionate owner of the business - very informative - and the chillies themselves are the stars (just try the Dorset Naga!!)

Who knew there were that many chillies!
Lovely couple who run the business and made you feel welcome immediately. Shawn was our guide who was so passionate and knowledgeable about everything chilli related. Very relaxed and fun experience and learnt a lot! Not included but we had lunch in the cafe which was delicious. Took some chilli plants home too!

Best day out fior a long while!
Had the pleasure of visiting Edible Ornamentals on Sunday for the Chilli Tour and Tasting for 2. And as an already confirmed chilli fan it was definitely worth doing. The range and types of chillies they grow is phenomenal, and Shawn the owner is happy to take any questions and provide detailed answers. Which will definitely help with my attempts at over-wintering plants this year. On the tasting side, there were at least a dozen different sauces and 8 or 9 different chillies. Excellent day

Shawn was an excellent host and was very knowledgeable and anecdotal. I learned so much about chillis and also got to taste them and take some home. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff at edible ornamental. A brilliant day

Chilli Farm Experience Day
We had the Chilli Farm experience bought as a Christmas present. I found the visit really interesting, both seeing how the chillis are grown and the tasting session afterwards. The chap who took the tour was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he does, which really showed.

Definitely Worth Doing
It was a great way to learn more about chillies. The experience was made fun and enjoyable by Olly who showed a small group around the farm and who was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about chillies and how to cook with them. The numerous tasters were great, but glad the milk was at hand after! Excellent value for money, and now considering signing up for the cookery class.

Educational and interesting, with some heat!
Great chilli farm with clearly enthusiastic people running it making some great chillies and all the sauces, chutneys that come along with it. Great if you are growing chillies at home to speak to the true experts in the field, and also our tour guide was a chef who was very keen to share his knowledge about food and what works with what. All in all a great day!

A fabulous hot day
Enjoyed this tour very much! It was pushing 30 degrees outside, which may not have been the best temperature to try their volcanic chillies! Great talk from Shawn explaining how to grow and care for chillies, followed by a visit to the growing areas of the farm. We were introduced to the various chille products they produce - loved the Seville Orange marmalade with chillies!! We also got to taste fresh chillies from mild to demonic hot! A great day out, which we would throughly recommend!

chilli Farm
A fantastic and really interesting day so informative and the owners have a real passion for what they do. My wife is not a big fan of chilli peppers but she also enjoyed the tour and even tasted the various products and chillis. We are currently growing a few in the garden that we bought. We will visit again.

We have just visited the Chilli nurse and had a great time. The tour was very informative, the food in the cafe delicious and we were able to purchase various relishes, sauces, and Chilli plants. I had no idea there were so many Chilli varieties. A lovely afternoon spent.

Chilli Tour and Tasting for Two
This was a very interesting and entertaining tour. I learn't so much about the world of chilli cultivation. The tasting session was brilliant with so many different varieties to try. You have to try the "Lemon Drop" Chilli it's wonderful as well as being deceptive with a sweet start and then the kick. I would recommend this tour for anyone who has an interest in growing or eating the hot stuff. Make sure you have a bite to eat afterwards the food is excellent.

Will never look at a Chilli the same again
Me and my wife loved the Chilli Tour Experience, we learnt a lot about chillies in a fun and informative way, Ollie are guide new his stuff and made sure we were all involved in the experience. the Tasting was good as you could try all the sauce products they make as well as a variety of Chillies from mild to the worlds hottest!!

A great couple of hours!
We had a great couple of hours being told about the history and varieties of the humble chilli! A knowledgeable and very friendly owner took us around his nursery and educated us on all aspects of his work. The tasting at the end blew our heads off! Highly recommended.

An interesting visit
