The Beginner’s Guide to Whisky for Two is the perfect way to get talking about whisky. From breaking down barriers, myths and legends to understanding the drink’s history and alchemic origins. Fun and thought provoking, no whisky education would be complete without tasting a ‘dram’ or two. You’ll get to try a variety of whiskies of differing styles and tastes from across Scotland.
There’s no better place to start your whisky journey, with a choice of locations across the UK and six delicious whiskies to try, you’ll get to grips with the subtleties of this historic and ever-popular drink in no time at all.

What happens on the day?
On arrival to your chosen Whisky Lounge location, you’ll meet your guide for the night before your pre-booked experience gets underway at about 19.00. Over the course of the evening you will sample six varieties of whisky, including Scottish and a couple of ‘World Whiskies’ too.
You’ll come away with a new knowledge and newly found appreciation of all things malted and distilled.

- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
This experience is available on selected dates throughout the year. Please note: new class dates will be released soon.
We recommend you book at least eight weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow approximately 2 hours for the whole experience.
Please note there is a minimum attendance of 20 people for a tasting or blending event to go ahead. If numbers are short and the event is cancelled an alternative date will be offered.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

Great intro to the amber nectar
A real good, down to earth night out. Guy our whisky officianado was informative,funny and really knew his stuff. He talked with you not at you and involved his audience ,well done! Definitely a good introduction to whisky novices. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent relaxed evening
A really fun and educational evening with a friendly and informative host. The venue was great (rather fancy for me!) and there was a good pace to the whisky tasting for 1.5-2 hrs. The host did not try to push any sales or act snooty or judgmental on those of us who were whisky beginners - he was very keen to emphasise it is all about personal taste. This was a gift last Christmas so took a long time to book due to demand, but I would definitely do an experience like this again.

A Wee Dram...
I was given this experience as a present. Have to say one of the best pressies I've ever had. The evening was informative but fun, the guy who took the session was had a great knowledge of Whisky and shared some facts that I was totally unaware of but have since put to the test.

Edutainment at its finest
I had a really good evening at this event. The host was engaging and funny who really knew his stuff. The selection of whisky was good with 5 of the 6 id not tried before. I couldnt recommend this highly enough to anyone who enjoys a wee dram from time to time or the more seasoned drinker

Fun & informative
Our experience started with a pint in the main bar, before we were asked to go dine to the room where the tasting would take place, it was all laid out perfectly 6 glasses of whisky per person, Guy was relaxed and not over the top he made everyone feel comfortable but delivered his knowledge well. The whisky was great some ones I would normally avoid I now appreciate. My father in loved it as a birthday gift, and we hope to book again soon to learn/drink some more!! Thanks Guy.

A 2 hour introduction to the whiskies of Scotland. Our guide to the intricacies of whisky was a very personable and knowledgeable chap called guy who gave a fascinating and amusing talk. I will definitely be arranging to attend one of his follow meetings.

A great intro to whisky
This tasting session was fabulous. Our host, Ru, was very knowledgeable about whisky and really brought the subject to life by being engaging and witty. I would recommend The Whisky Lounge to everyone. The Edgbaston Hotel was an amazing setting.

Informative and entertaining!
This was bought as a Xmas pressie and I attended with my son. Guy was very knowledgable and entertaining and we both enjoyed the tasting experience. It was held in a small back off St James Street where only a maximum of 24 people can attend. Would definitely recommend it!
