Unlock the secrets to the perfect light and fluffy steamed buns with this Bao Cooking Masterclass at the one and only Gordon Ramsay Academy. A street food favourite across China and Taiwan, these sweet buns stuffed with spicy meat or vegetables may seem tricky, but this masterclass will reveal all.
You’ll receive an introduction to bao from the chefs before getting hands-on mixing up and kneading your bun dough. While that’s proving, you’ll focus on fillings, pickles and sauce, choosing meat or veg, so they’re ready to shape and steam as classic folded bao.
Your masterclass includes refreshments and a chance to relax in the Academy’s impressive cookbook library, and at the end you’ll head home armed with plenty of food, a recipe pack and new bao knowledge to boot.

What happens on the day?
You’ll have the choice of a morning class which runs from 09.30 to 12.30 or an afternoon class which runs from 13.00 to 16.00. Whichever you choose, you’ll need to arrive up to 30 minutes before your class starts to check in at reception. From there, you’ll be meeting the other like-minded aspiring chefs in your class, before getting to grips with bao. Expert chefs will be on hand with tips and tricks that’ll allow you to recreate the magic at home. At the end of the class you’ll head home with plenty of goodies.

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
