Great Experience
Me and my partner done the Pork Pie making experience and I have to say it was one of the best we have done. Our teacher Claire was so good and very informative. She made you feel at ease and was a really good teacher. We came away with 2 pies each, one which was already cooked and one we made from scratch. Due to current restrictions we were given a picnic bag which had a lovely selection of foods in and was delicious. We would definitely recommend

The real pork pie day
A fantastic experience. Clare let a well paced and informative morning, everything was well organised and relaxed. We learnt how to make hot water pastry and fill a pie with jelly, then we made our own pie. We received a lovely picnic lunch and returned home with one cooked pork pie and another ready to cook as well as recipes and baking instructions. A fun day.

Informative, well structured and fun event
Thoroughly enjoyed this event. The demonstrator had just the right balance between history of the area/information on the practicalities of making a successful pie, giving assistance when needed and humour. We had travelled quite a distance so to be provided with a bottle of water on arrival would have been very welcome :-)

Brilliant experience!!
Gift experience bought as a 50th birthday present for my Dad. Even with the current restrictions, we thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. It was very well organised and the instructor was very informative and welcoming. Learned how to make all aspects of a traditional pork pie, with two pies each to take away. After the experience we were given a takeaway ploughman's lunch which was lovely and more than we were expecting to take away. Overall a brilliant experience and would highly recommend!!

Dads 60th birthday gift
Workshop brought as a gift for my dads 60th, we both really enjoyed the morning and got more than we thought to bring home. Very interesting history told as well as learning to make a pork pie, which our table also got picked as the winning table too!! Products to buy after which i did but no pressure. PPE worn but this did not effect the workshop at all

Fab and fun experience, definitely recommend it.
It was a great workshop and very well organised. We made hot water pastry, minced meat, raised the pastry on a "dolly" and put jelly into a pre-made pie. We took two pies home each, one ready cooked and one we'd made for us to cook. The lunch became a take away picnic lunch due to Covid, but it was delicious and a very generous portion too. We learned of the interesting history of Melton Mowbray pies. Social distancing, masks etc all adhered to. It was great fun and definitely recommend it.

Great Fun
We were guided through the process of making the pastry and forming the shape of a Melton Mowbray pork pie including chopping the meat and filling it with the jelly. The whole process was given with humour and without pressure. A thoroughly enjoyable morning concluded by an amply ploughmans lunch. Top marks to Brocklebys.

A must for Pork Pie lovers.
If you like an excellent pork pie, you need to have a morning or afternoon here. Your learn so many secrets of the Melton Mowbray pork pie and make one, fill one and have the pastry to make another, plus the recipe to take home, with so many pie ideas you will be the size of a bus if you make them all. You need to be able to stand and listen, for quite a while, but you also have plenty of practical experiences. Enough to make a pork pie at home all by yourself.

A fun and different afternoon
Enjoyable and informative, with lots of hands on experience. Guided every step of the way by an interesting and informative pie making expert, we made hot water pastry, blended our fillings, shaped our pies and added the all important jelly. All really informal and fun. After we were fed an amazing ploughman's lunch with pies (of course), cheese, salad, pickles and salad, delicious. We each came away with a large bag of pastry to use at home, a complete pie to cook and another ready to eat.

Really enjoyable day
I attended with my husband, Paul the instructor was very welcoming and experienced. Great day out. The only down side was the venue, it was old and scruffy and too small really, we had a good lunch afterwards but we were squeezed into a shabby room which I presumed was the workers rest room. The building really wasn’t fit for purpose.
