What happens on the day?
Hop aboard your chosen fighter for a totally immersive 60-minute simulator experience. Both the Spitfire and the Messerschmitt simulators are built to original specifications, built with a full set of working gauges and controls. You can test your take-off skills, master the flight controls, and eventually bring your fighter back down to earth.
Participant guidelines
- Minimum age 10 (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)
- Maximum weight: 22 stone
- Minimum height: 4ft 5in
- Due to the restrictive access to the Spitfire it will not be suitable for less able-bodied people. The Messerschmitt has been designed for easier access
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
The experience is available Monday to Saturday, subject to availability. Some exclusions may apply.
Please note from 1 August 2019 the experience will not be available on Sundays.
We recommend you book at least four to six weeks in advance for a weekday and four months in advance for a weekend to ensure that dates are available. Booking early is recommended, as availability is limited. All bookings are subject to availability.
Your flight will last for 60 minutes but please allow longer at the venue.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A Pilots eye view !
The feel, sound and space make you appreciate what an incredible task the RAF had to attempt. Plenty of scenarios to choose from and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Great experience! 👍

exciting hour
a one hour session in a spitfire simulator. Complete with spitfire cockpit mock-up. Well looked after. Lots of guidance and information. A not to be missed experience for an enthusiast .

hugely enjoyable
flying ww2 messerscmitt 109 fun and realistic. Combat against fighters or bombers, fly under tower bridge, take off and landing with helpful advice from member of staff. One hour went so fast. I would return for another go and another and another...............

Spitfire Flight - The real thing
A 3 hour drive for my birthday treat but what a fantastic experience. The cockpit is the real thing. The instrument panels, flaps, undercarriage everything. I had never flown before but this was brilliant. Instructor got me to land (1 fatal crash), takeoff, fight bombers (engine shot up and had to glide land into a field). After an hour I was sweating and adrenaline was pumping. What a great experience. I had a family member fly for the RAF in WWII so this was so real for me. Highly recommended.

WW2 Fighter Simulator Experience
Any WW2 Spitfire fan would love this simulator experience ! I would reccomend the full hour option as even that felt it went quickly as it was such an interesting and fun activity.

Fantastic Experience
The instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful. Fantastic to sit in the cockpit and feel just how sensitive the controls are. Tore the undercarriage off on the first landing but got down safely after that! A great thing to experience, it gives you a very brief glimpse of what those WW2 pilots went through.

Once found the venue the set up was good with friendly people at the desk going though what it was all about.Once in side for the flight found the cockpit set up like the real thing as I volunteer at the Duxford airfield it was good to see .Also the explained what is going on I leant a few things why the spitfire had to point so far to the right landing speeds use of flaps combat and trying to mirror someone else’s aircraft when dog fighting not as easy as it looks Best Day ever

Great 70th
My family gave this to me as a 70th present. I was a bit apprehensive as I have tried flying on a computer. I managed to get the hang of it reasonably quickly. Was able to do a take off and landing of the Spirfire. The instructor was very good. The hour went very quickly. A great experience.

80th Birthday present
The Spitfire simulator experience was given to me by my son and daughter in law for my 80th birthday present and I must say that after having received 79 years worth of birthday presents previously, this was the one that outdid them all! Daniel my flight instructor, was very clear with his descriptions of what to do and how to handle the "Spitfire". Not easy to get right but truly exhilarating. Take off, easy. Landings not so easy! Try it and fly it. All in all a wonderful day.

what a fanatastic experience
This spitfire experience far exceeded my expectations I thoroughly enjoyed the full sixty minute flying time this realistic simulator As a pilot I was amazed at the standard of the simulation and will repeat the experience before flying the real thing The instructor allowed me to settle i until I was ready to attempt take off and landings which proved highly exhilarating and greta fun I highly recommend this experience to people of all ages and skill levels

Brilliant experience!
I chose the Spitfire simulator at Fly a Flight. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Everything was clearly explained and plenty of time was given to get familiar with the controls. My wife was also able to take pictures. I was quite surprised how sensitive the controls were, but soon got used to free flying. Take off was difficult because of correcting for the Merlin engine torque effect. Landing was hard too and needed several attempts! Strongly recommended!

I was a little apprehensive of the level of detail on this simulator but boy was I surprised. Excellent level of detail and the control response was spot on thoroughly enjoyed this experience the only down side is the time went so quick ...... I wanted more 😁

60 Minute Spitfire simulator
A most enjoyable 60 mins, worth every penny. Charming people to deal with. I struggled with the simulator a bit but it was serious fun, I might have another go later. Amazing what you can do even shoot at a Messerschmitt.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Spitfire simulator experience from start to finish. Everything was explained so well. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely like to return in the future and cant recommend highly enough.

Fantastic
When we arrived we were met by a lady who was very warm and friendly who we sat chatting to until it was time to fly the spitfire. The event was made even better as my wife was able to fly the messershmit. Brilliant day. Thanks to all concerned.

I am hoping to cross a flight in a spitfire, off my bucket list one day! With excellent tuition I received, this was pretty close to achieving this!

Flying a Spitfire- or trying to!
Brilliant hour spent trying to fly a Spitfire. After my efforts, I have even more respect for the WW2 pilots. Good help and instructions albeit very hot in the building. Overall, a great experience.
