One Night Gourmet Break for Two at Ruthin Castle
Overview
Take a trip to northern Wales together and spend a night in a Castle Double room at the historic Ruthin Castle, with a two-course dinner and a full Welsh breakfast in the morning.
Steeped in history, Ruthin Castle dates back from Arthurian legend through to the English Civil War, and was once owned by King Henry VIII. During your stay you can walk among the old walls, take in the countryside or explore the nearby market towns at your leisure.
You’ll be sleeping within the ancient walls that saw many a famous visitor, and the hotel’s Bertie’s Restaurant is named after the family nickname of one of its most distinguished guests: Edward VII. Here you can enjoy your two-course dinner, and in the morning a full Welsh breakfast will be waiting to set you up for the day ahead.

A Truely greta break
Hotel is lovely and in a great setting. It is ideal for a weekend break, or for exploring this part of Wales. Bar prices are not extortionate and service was fantastic. Loved the room as well.

Ruthin Castle
Excellent hotel, excellent food and staff. Ruthin town also worth a visit. The castle was very good, the only minus point was the Peacocks, whilst they were a plus point and very nice to look at in the day time, they were very noisy at night, so bad that it was impossible to sleep.!

Visit to Ruthin Castle Hotel
The room was not as expected, like certain parts of the hotel it was "very tired." The room was described as a luxury room but I do think that was an overstatement. On the upside, the bed was very comfortable. Also there was a good supply of bathroom toiletries and tea and coffee. There were some issues with the restaurant which have been communicated to the hotel.

Was nice, but customer service was a let down.
We were excited to stay in a castle, but it didn't meet expectations. Pros: Castle grounds and some interior, lovely Welsh area Cons: - Customer service in the restaurant was quite bad - When we arrived there wasn't a staff member to be seen - had to wait about 15 minutes? - I was disappointed that the rooms didn't have that castle feel... - When we went down to the spa the staff member there clearly wasn't happy about us showing up, her demeanour made me ask "are you closing soon"?

Not as expected
The castle is beautiful from the outside. Grounds are lovely. Inside is another story. The place needs a makeover for sure. The doors to the bedrooms are terrible. The bedroom was ok. Not the cleananest. Bathroom was nice bit had cobwebs. Foot in Berties was lovely. Apparently under new ownership. Fingers crossed it will improve as it is a beautiful location.

Book early!!
Disappointed that there were no rooms available for the date we had chosen our only option was to pay an additional £90 for a dirty suite. Waiter staff in the restaurant left us waiting for ages and were not very a tentative.
