Long weekend break
Excellent hotel. Clean and friendly. Food was excellent on the first night but less than average on the second night. Gammon was wafer thin and hard. Different chef maybe??

Pleasant stay
Hotel room was somewhat small but was very clean. Nice garden view & pond. The staff were friendly. How waitress at our evening meal was extremely helpful. An enjoyable time considering covid measures. Would visit again.

Not great
Hotel seemed a bit tired food was tasty but basic lighting was very bad in the dinning room and the service wasn’t particularly good. However it was clean and friendly and would probably be nicer in the summer when the large garden would be in use

Disappointing
Curbside appeal very good but disappointingly ordinary and dated inside. Dining room lacked colour and style and was more akin to a canteen. Dinner was mediocre (tough, dry meat), red wine served warm, cheap and nasty wine glasses marked up with pub measures. Some waiting staff lacked training. General decor dull and very dated. However rooms clean, bed comfortable, good towels and good breakfast. Given the Virgin name, our expectations were high and were not met.
