Cute hotel with lovely food
Our room was very nice and clean. Breakfast was very nice although pre-ordering continental items was a shame. Understand can't do buffet but still think you can order those items in the morning like the cooked breakfast. Hotel was cute and a couple of restuarants in the village.

Lovely people lovely food, could be cleaner..
Was welcomed very nicely, was able to check in early which was fab. When go to the room was nice with lots of space but there was a lot of dust around so could have been cleaner. The remote in the room don't work the TV so had to request another one which was sent. Everything was great, ate at the hotel for dinner, food was lovely and so was breakfast. Able to also check out half an hour later which was also fab!

Nice little break away
We booked to stay the The Talbot in Ripley, Surrey. The hotel was lovely, staff were very friendly. The room was fairly basic but it was clean and well presented and the bed was very comfortable. We had a three course meal in their restaurant. The food was delicious! Would highly recommend. It is a beautiful restaurant with views looking out to the garden. Staff were helpful and efficient. Overall, a nice little getaway without the kids!

Lovely night away
We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and the staff were great. I am gluten free and they were very accommodating speaking to the chef and making it as easy as possible. They were also great at breakfast. The room was comfy and clean and we would recommend the Inn for a night away.

Fair little break away
A charming old hotel in a picturesque altho rather sleepy village (most places seem to close early, especially Mon/Tues). The bedroom felt a little tired in places, and there was an unnecessarily oversized hedge blocking the view of the open fields and trees beyond which gave an air of claustrophobia. Service in the bar and restaurant was a little hap hazard, however the drinks and food were all tasty and well presented, which I guess is the main thing. Great garden & terrace dining area.

Great staff but very pricey food and drinks
The staff very helpful and friendly and very nice feel to the place, great to sit where Nelson sat. Now for the negatives the bed clearly not been made properly and pillow case inside out. Bacon not cooked properly, the water ran out so no showers in the morning and food and drinks are very expensive

Great venue, rip off pricing
Lovely hotel, helpful staff. Virgin pricing was outrageous. Hotel charged £60, Virgin charged £100. Virgin added no value whatsoever. Won’t use Virgin again for hotel stays.

Adequate not worth the money
I checked in ok but upon arrival I asked if I could book a table at the restaurant. No fully booked! Room was clean and basic, but bathroom was dirty shower hadn’t been cleaned. Noisy in the corridor at night with people chatting, I was woken up a few times. Breakfast, hmmm dissapointing, waiters lacked smiles and just looked miserable. Breakfast was continental, cereal and a hot buffet, with the only eggs on offer being scrambled and were Luke warm, offered one cup of tea, lacked atmosphere.

Night at The Talbot from Virgin Experience.
Easy to book via the hotel head office telephone booking line. The hotel is nice but staff not interested in guests. The staff need improved training in customer relations before I will return. Notice our bedroom window with hinges falling off? Poor state of repair - although receptionist blamed us guests for the recent damage.

A little disappointing
This was booked as a birthday gift for my partner and I. The room was ok, a little on the small size but it was acceptable. What isn't accapetable is have NO hand soap at all in the bathroom. Very unhygeinic. There was also a dead spider on the floor. Breakfast however was extremely disappointing. The buffet was cold, very limited on options. Only scrambled egg. There was no sauces available for the cooked breakfast. I also had to ask for butter for toast. Not good enough.

No better than a travelodge
Having realised the limits of the offer, most hotels involved offering only Sunday - Thursday nights, we opted for the Talbot, which looked like a decent offering unlike many of the other rather shabby looking hotels. On arrival it looked nice, and Ripley a lovely, old worldie type village. However, our room was sorely disappointing - basic in every sense of the term and less than what I'd expect from a Travelodge. Tired decor, terrible mattress, broken blind, igly divan bed with no valance...

Never again
Chose the Talbot Inn for a one-night stay which we received as a wedding present. The hotel itself is an old building with what appeared to be a newer extension to the rear. We were given a ‘four-poster room’ which is supposed to be one of their premium rooms. The shower did not work, there was no hot water upon arrival; we raised these issues on the first night (Sat) and the manager just said ‘the maintenance guy isn’t in until Monday’. He did however fix the toilet which was also broken. Avoid

Utterly charmless hotel experience. Avoid.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Your room will not be in the main hotel where all the advertised pictures are from. You will be placed in a disconnected overspill building that has all the charm of a care home mixed with a Travelodge. Staff are rude and unhelpful Bed covers were stained Hand marks above the bed Cleaning wake you at 8:30am TV doesn't work Shower is dirty No bath Selling this as an 'experience' is frankly false advertising, a con.
