Fantastic venue with excellent staff.
Lovely golf course - great food & facilities are brilliant. Big thank you and commendation for the staff - nothing was too much trouble for them and very friendly. Especially a big thank you to Aiden who made our stay so pleasurable along with Debra & Jack. The team there are a credit to Aiden's management skills - he is an asset to the hotel! Will definitely be visiting again and fully recommend this venue.

Review of Shrigley Hall
Beautiful hotel set in amazing grounds overlooking the 18 hole golf course. Our room was lovely with a super king bed. Bar drinks a little pricey as I didn't expect a G & T to be cheap, but £20 for a single one was a bit steep!!

Enjoyable break.
Good location and a nice historic property. We had Sunday lunch before checking in and it was excellent value for money. After checking in we used the spa facilities which were good. The hotel staff were very helpful and polite. The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed our stay. The only two slight negatives were that the room was a little dated but it was a good size and was clean and comfortable. The other problem was that the wifi for the internet would not connect to my tablet.

THE WORST STAY I HAVE EVER HAD
We got at the hotel for 12.30pm so we could use the facilities until checking in at 3pm I was told this over the phone, when we got to reception I was told there was a charge of £10 each, wasn’t on my reservation either , our dry cleaned clothes thrown on the floor, been put in a room furthest away when I told them I had a disability, no disabled parking due to contractors being in the spaces, there were painting contractors and carpet being laid it was a joke and a total waste of my money

Beautiful
Such a stunning place to be! Would love to return, the sun was out the whole time we were there which was great for the day! At night, it was so warm and could have done with a little more air con (only would blow air out at lowest of 19 degrees) which was a bit warm! But honestly, could not complain! Excellent staff, beautiful settings, amazing food! Would 100% recommend for a luxurious weekend away!

Great Hotel
Excellent hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms. The hotel has huge grounds so perfect for a walk. The pool/Spa and gym are worth using especially the gym as it has lots of equipment for different parts of the body. The hotel is under refurbishment as some parts of the hotel are showing its age. But once complete I'm sure it will be even better.

On the whole a fab experience
I booked this for my partners birthday in December but due to Covid, we only just got to use this. Lovely venue, location and communal areas. The room however was dated and In need of a refurbishment. The bar area was fabulous, great service friendly staff with clear and sensible restrictions. Spa area was the best!! Fantastic, clean, hot tubs were amazing!!!!! Area of improvement was communication at check in. The bubbly on arrival we had to ask for and breakfast plans not made clear.

Beautiful location
Stunning location and beautiful grounds, ruined by a golf course! Great breakfast, reasonably priced food in the lounge bar. Room was clean, if not immaculate and was on the ‘cosy’ side. Nice spot to enjoy a local walk and mingle with the Cheshire set wannabes.

Shrigley Hall
Good night at Shrigley Hall apart from having no view from room. There was only a roof window. My husband had to stand on a chair to be able to see. The spa facilities were very good though.

Break away
Bought as a present. Bed was really small expected at least a king-sized. Room also very small, looked out onto a path that people walked along so we had to keep curtains closed. Receptionist were not all helpful, we walked around hotel trying to find room until a young male employee took us to our room. He was very helpful. Only one shower gel and shampoo in bathroom. Food was very expensive. Wasn't even asked if we enjoyed our stay, just interested in paying bill.

Shrigley Hall Hotel &Spa
Was greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Room very clean. Food good. Grounds and setting excellent. Bed I booked a double not 2 singles pushed together that both had worn out mattresses and different heights. Very uncomfortable and feel let down and waisted my experience. The house keeping was very very bad for this star hotel. Pictures taken just after breakfast on house keeping by spa. Also find bed pictures.

Shrigley Hall overnight stay
Hotel is tired and in need of a serious improvement programme. We visited the spa and the steam room was not working, the sauna at best could only take 8 people, totally insufficient for a hotel of this size. Robe hire was £5 per person which I think is an unnecessary cost. On a positive the pool was good, although the jacuzzi was well underpowered. The room we were allocated was just ok, but with dated furniture and fittings with no air conditioning. Quality of food at mealtime was good .

Shrigley Hall
This was a gift from my daughter. Staff are amazing and so helpful. However first room given was not very nice. Asked for a different room, given a recently refurbished room. Nice room but lack of finesse. Ceiling half painted, skirting board paint cutting in was not finished, silicone in bathroom was done by someone inexperienced. Toilet leaked leaving puddle of water as you walked in the bathroom. Extractor fan noises. Radiator sounded like a rocket taking off when opening the thermostat.

All fur coat and no knickers
From the sweeping drive and beautiful location, Shrigley Hall promises so much, the towels and the view are the highlight, sadly the rest is disappointing , nothing 4 star about this hotel - tatty, dated furniture , old worn fittings and carpets and just a bit grubby. Breakfast was just there, batch cooked and left in warmers for hours, cold plates, staff oblivious to guests, crockery slow to be cleared. Nothing horrendous but way below expectation, had better stays at Premier Inn.

Just one little issue
Hotel amazing, grounds beautiful, food very nice both evening meal and kitchen. Drink over priced £9+ for a cocktail. Future wife burn her hand on the food plate as it was far to hot and it took two staff to check her hand before believing the big red mark was a burn. Food service was slow and forgot the wine. No Prosecco on arrival. Had to swap room on arrival. Get you food service staff sorted and this would be an truly amazing hotel. Pool and spa clean with responsive staff.

Beautiful setting and that’s about it.
Upon arriving at shrigley hall for my mums long awaited Mother’s Day treat. We were stunned by the breathtaking and beautiful views, scenery and grounds. Unfortunately this excitement was short lived unhelpful staff, no bubbles on arrival as promised, dirty room, wasps nest on corridor, overpriced and unpleasant food, no information provided in room. Ventured down to spa staff unhelpful and unfriendly and menu very expensive, ruled out the spa for us :( So much potential what a shameZ

not as good as expected
The check in meant to be at 3pm but we had to wait for an hour for room to be ready as they were behind on cleaning. We drove all way from Gretna Green where we had our wedding to have this great experience, but wasn't as great as we expected. No one advised that spa had to be booked separately, sent my voucher via email and they should see it is experience and all should run smoothly but it didn't. Spa was unavailable on a day or next day. Room wasn't nice outdated, moldy.

Very disappointing
Well approaching Shrigley Hall is very impressive what looks to be a grand building in beautiful grounds... but.... The room we were allocated was disappointingly very basic. On entering the room initially washing our hands, hairs (inc short n curly) were in the wash basin ( reported & resolved). The window frame had mould and cobwebs visible. The outside courtyard is just an overgrown mess. We were not offered the glass of Prosecco which was part of our virgin exp present, we had to ask.

No sleep
Totally let down with Shrigley Hall. Was promised a glass of Prosecco on arrival which did not arrive. The room and spa are quite dated which was a big disappointment. The biggest gripe was our room was next to a large generator overlooking all the bins. The window would not close proper so only had a couple of hours sleep. Will not be rushing back.

Disappointing at best
Arrived to an unorganised reception. When entering found the room very basic and unclean with scum around the taps, mould in the grouting and dust and cobwebs on the curtains. Went out to find a walk of the ground, which are lovely to look at, but only allowed access if you play golf. Had booked a table for the restaurant and the food was a let down and very overpriced with very poor service. The only saving grace was the all you can eat breakfast. I hope the refurb changes a lot of things.

Oh dear. Don't bother.
I never review... but I needed to on this occasion. Virgin need to seriously consider removing this hotel from their packages. Driving up - beautiful. Everything else... dated, old, shabby, unloved. Hotel is confusing to figure out. Spa is minimal to put it politely. We complained because the room was terrible. Breakfast was fine. The duty manager was very helpful and tried to resolve some issues. But don't waste your money or time... I'd rather stay in a clean travel lodge.

Very poor customer check
I was given this gift experience as a 60th birthday present, I finally got to use it as lockdown lifted and was deeply disappointed. The customer service was atrocious, the gentleman at check in embarrassed us in front of other customers because we arrived early. We had to ask for our drink that was included in the experience because staff did not pay attention to detail in the voucher. Beautiful building but the service let the whole experience down, I will not be recommending.

Absolutely shocking
We arrived yesterday for a one night stay and ended up leaving about three hours after check in as the room was really horrible. There were stains in the bath, there were holes in the bathroom tiles, the grouting on the tiles was filthy and the window wouldn’t open, the shower was hanging off and we didn’t even get a menu in our room. The pictures of the rooms on your website definitely wasn’t what we got given.

Would not go back to this hotel. Didnt get my glass of prosecco, as per voucher. Room was not cleaned properly. Very hot bedroom, no aircon. The whole of the floor in the bedroom creaked, ridiculously badly. Spa, pool, was cold, broken tiles, jacuzzi, broken bits, rails around pool rusty.

Glad I didn't pay, won stay through work. Was nothing like spas I've been to before, old fashioned. The hotel was dirty. Didn't get to use swimming pool etc. Didn't fancy walking around hotel. Changing in our room, walking length of hotel then when getting out go to your room wet. The reviews about evening meals, we ended up eating out at a lovely pub called Vale Inn.

Worst Experience Ever!!
Bought this break for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. The package did not include "full" access to the Spa (as advertised), and all beauty treatments eg massage were pricey additional extras! The hotel was undergoing renovations, and the rooms a long way from the facilities. Not ideal for someone with COPD! Customer Service at Virgin was appalling. No sympathy just the same script repeated over and over like a robot. DON'T buy this unless you read the small print - a huge let down!!!
