One Night Break for Two at The Ennerdale Country House Hotel
Overview
That’s ‘Ennerdale’, with an ‘n’, so you won’t be experiencing any fictional farm-related drama on this One Night Break at the Ennerdale Country House Hotel.
The Ennerdale Country House Hotel is a Grade II listed building, filled with antique furniture and character with five acres of landscaped gardens and Italian fountains. From there you can travel around the stunning Lake District and visit some of the many attractions on the West Coast of England, including the pretty seaside town of St. Bees and the end/start of the Coast to Coast Walk.
Dinner is available at an extra cost the hotel in The Fountain Room Restaurant, or if you’re willing to explore the nearby area there are loads of restaurants up the road in Cleator Moor and down in Egremont. In the morning you’ll both have a full English breakfast to ready you for your journey home – take the scenic route and add even more stunning views to your quaint hotel break.

Beautiful internal decor, very clean and comfortable. Lovely outdoor views. Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Dinner menu was a bit limited but happy with the food. Definitely recommend.

Lovely room, spacious and decorated in a country house manner yet with all the modern conveniences. Four poster bed very romantic and atmospheric. Nice view over the lawns and garden.

Fabulous hotel
My partner Mr Stephen Guppy and I had an overnight stay at the Ennerdale Hotel. WE were going to take my dog, but decided not to, we rang the hotel and they upgraded our room. What a room! 4 poster bed, Jacuzzi bathtub, sofa, t v, radio. Shame we only there one night

Getaway in the prettiest part of the Lakes
We had a lovely stay here. The gardens and building are lovely. The decor is a bit tired in the hotel, but perhaps part of its charm, and our stay was very comfortable and the staff were lovely, and very accommodating for dietary requirements. The surrounding area is beautiful and we enjoyed fantastic cycling and walking in the area.

Lovely stay.
On arrival we had been upgraded to a lovely room with four poster bed and jaqusie bath which was a nice surprise. Staff were very friendly and a tentative and the menu and food was excellent. In parts the building could do with a little tic but we would definitely return and recommend to friends.

Ennerdale Country Hotel, Cleator
We stayed at this hotel for one night on 15 September. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and the staff we very welcoming. We had requested a room with a view and were offered the bridal suite which had a four poster bed!! We had a good lunch in the hotel before spending the rest of the day exploring the area. Breakfast the following morning was a traditional full English. The only downside to the experience was that the rooms need a small amount of maintenance to improve vastly.

Hoped for better
The staff really friendly & polite. Hotel looked tired & in need of a make over. Room was not as pictures on website. Shower was difficult if more than 5'9. Not many places to eat.

Welcome to a cave
My wife and I stayed for 2 nights one of which was paid for by our son and the other booked separately to give us chance to see the area around. What can I say. The lighting in the room was so weak it was more like a cave. We had an issue with noise coming from heating system and when I told reception the girl said I'll send someone up. So she sent one of the kitchen staff with a few tools who admitted he didn't know what he was doing. I also heard other guests complaining about other issues.

Awful food
It seemed obvious that the cakes served were all stored bought. Tasteless. One of the sandwiches served had 3 finger print marks on the bread. The sausage roll was cold and awful tasting. The breakfast was just as bad. How it is possible to get fried egg and bacon wrong?

Worst stay ever!
This hotel had the worst customer service and no idea on hospitality. The room was ok, the shower was more like a dribble and it was freezing. The breakfast room was full of dirty tables, no milk or bowls for cereal, no cutlery, toast arrived 10mins before the breakfast arrived which was disgusting. Over hearing the waiter complain to other guests that it was all the guests fault for coming to breakfast at the same time! Not very nice to hear

One night stay at Ennerdale Country House Hotel.
Although the gardens were beautiful the bedroom we were allocated was not. Particularly as we had no view what so ever the windows been frosted. we were also next to the kitchen and dining room and noise began at 0630. The bed and bathroom were reasonable although we do not understand why it had a 10.5 tog quilt on and the radiators were on high setting. Looking forward to a lovely breakfast we were sadly disappointed it was the worst ever. Poor quality undercooked and badly presented. Stay away
