Two nights in Edinburgh
Couldn't believe the amazing location, right on Princes Street and a great location with our room looking across to Edinburgh Castle. Hotel was great, excellent breakfast included. Had to park the car 10 minutes walk away but got a voucher from the hotel towards the excessive cost of parking. All in all it was an excellent stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

Weekend away
Overall it was great the bed was massive which was great the only thing I would fault is the toilet system. When you flush it it makes a lot of noise. Apart from that we had a lovely stay in an excellently loacated hotel.

Really good
Good hotel. Very central. We went for the christmas market and it was just across the road. Helpful staff and good breakfast. It would be helpful to have a confirmation email when you book the hotel. I had to phone to check the booking was ok and was told they didn't send confirmation as it was booked with a voucher.

Fabulous
Stayed here for one night and it was fabulous. Staff at check in polite, friendly and helpful. We had dinner which was delicious and again staff very friendly. Buffet breakfast next morning had everything you could want. Plenty of choice and always bringing out freshly cooked food. Convenient for railway station and tour bus. Within walking distance of all attractions. Would highly recommend this hotel. Would definitely go back if in Edinburgh again.

Fantastic experience
We stayed at the Mercure on Princes street, Edinburgh. Train station is on the doorstep. And all the landmarks are walking distance away. Hotel staff were very polite, very clean rooms, and if you have the castle view rooms then you're in for a treat, because the views are stunning. All in all very pleasant stay.

Great time of year to go to Edinburgh
Stayed in Mercure hotel on Princess street. Great location directly opposite Christmas market. Had room with balcony which looked over castle and Christmas market. Room was very small and in need of an upgrade. Cracks in sink and bath and shower poor. Breakfast had little variety. Edinburgh is a beautiful city though and would recommend a visit at Christmas.

Late Xmas present
Hotel was very good. Clean hotel and helpful staff. Had dinner in restaurant which was a 10 out of 10. If we go back would eat in there again. Only issue we had was the noise other guests made. Heard kettles getting plugged in and switched on. People talking at loud levels from 06.45am. Not good on a Sunday! Only other thing wrong was if you wanted a decent view from your room you had to pay for an upgrade.

weekend trip to Edinburgh
we had dinner in the restaurant which was good, but spoilt by a rowdy group of men in the bar section of the dinning area. Perhaps having the bar and dinning areas seperated would solve this problem.

One night stay in Edinburgh
The hotel was great in terms of location. It was a couple of minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station which was great for us. We arrived at 9:45 and our room was understandably not ready ! So we left our cases. The front view of the room is amazing! Breakfast is great too. Only thing I would say is that the bathrooms probably need updating !

Central Edinburgh getaway
The hotel is centrally situated on Princes Street and is fairly close to the station which makes it an ideal base to explore Edinburgh. The room was clean and a good size. It was at the back of the hotel so no views except of other windows. It was also a bit noisy from what sounded like air conditioning units. The bathroom was dated and the shower was pathetic though there was plenty of hot water for a bath.

Xmas markets
Stayed here for 1 night. Was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. Yes the hotel is a little tired and from what I can gather some of the rooms overlooking the back of hotel can be disappointing. We were lucky. Stayed in room 666 overlooking Princess St xmas market. I could of watched from window all day. Room very spacious, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice. Staff friendly and helpful.

Fair
The room was very small and outdated. We overlooked the back of the hotel which was a wall and air conditioning unit, which made a noise constantly during our stay. The hotel was full so couldn't change rooms. We would possibly stay again and pay extra for an executive room overlooking Princess street. The location is great and the breakfast was good.

would visit again but book direct!
I chose a night in the Princes Street Mercure hotel. The hotel is great, best location for exploring the city however I paid £140 for a standard room through virgin and later found out that had i booked direct with the hotel the same room would have been £80! The hotel boasts views of the city but this only applies to premier rooms standard rooms are located at the back with no view. For the price i paid through virgin I could have booked a premier room for less direct with hotel.

City Break
Received this as a birthday gift. Hotel was in an excellent location to all amenities. In need of a little refurbishing in the dining room but overall had a pleasant stay. Check in was delayed by around an hour but received a complementary drink while we waited.

Changes at hotel
Been to this hotel a couple of times and always had great stays. Not so much this time. Same room I've had previously but had a musty smell in it. Didn't notice till about to go to sleep a mark on the sheets which looked as though the bedding wasn't changed. The food portions have gotten smaller but price has increased slightly. If I had been travelling myself I would have complained but was with a young child who was already asleep before I noticed stain.

Excellent City
Very poor room quality. Would not recommend this hotel unless booking independently as would only rate 3 star and not worth the £90 per night. Moved to a different hotel same price quality exceptional. Don't use Virgin Experience Days for hotel in Edinburgh.

Not great
Spent the night here on Friday 22nd June was in a twin room with beds pushed together and a lovely view of tubes and pipes not the view of the castle I expected. We had 1 towel not 2 and a whole 2 tea bags probably trivial I know but things like this to me are an essential Breakfast was no better plenty of cereal but as for cooked breakfast no eggs , bacon, sausage was rock hard. All in all not a very good experience. Virgin need to find a new venue I think
