Two Night Escape for Two at The Ennerdale Country House Hotel
Overview
That’s ‘Ennerdale’, with an ‘n’, so you won’t be experiencing any fictional farm-related drama on this Two Night Break at the Ennerdale Country House Hotel.
The Ennerdale Country House Hotel is a Grade II listed building, filled with antique furniture and character with five acres of landscaped gardens and Italian fountains. From there you can travel around the stunning Lake District and visit some of the many attractions on the West Coast of England, including the pretty seaside town of St. Bees and the end/start of the Coast to Coast Walk.
Dinner is available at an extra cost the hotel in The Fountain Room Restaurant, or if you’re willing to explore the nearby area there are loads of restaurants up the road in Cleator Moor and down in Egremont. Each morning you’ll both have a full English breakfast to ready you for your day’s exploring – take the scenic routes and fill your break with stunning views of the Cumbrian countryside.

A fantastic pre baby break
Had a fantastic time at the Ennerdale. We received a free upgrade to a four poster room and even had breakfast in bed. Staff on the front desk were lovely and helpful. Our pre baby trip was made really special

Really lovely weekend break.
We had a great time at the Ennerdale Country House Hotel. The breakfast was really yum with additional unlimited continental buffet as well as hot food! We visited Keswick and Derwent Water for one day of our stay and really recommend the walk around the lake. The next day we went to St Bees on the coast and enjoyed the walk to Whitehaven and the lighthouse.

Had a lovely stay
Staff were lovely, supportive and cheery. Loved the room with the doors opened up to the garden, with lovely views of their garden in this 5 acre property. Breakfast was delightful with plenty of choice.

2 night stay @ ennerdale
Very nice place to stay if a little remote. + points Night place and surroundings. Nice quiet area Food Staff - points Dated overall. Single glazed windows, wood rotten and rain and condensation all over the windows. Cold, even though it was summer. Radiators turned up full but no heat, annoyingly you have to ask at front desk for them to turn the thermostat up, on the wall behind them?. Damp feeling in room. The ennerdale needs a lot of money spent on it, to update it.

Two day break
Great place, good food not to pricey, very friendly & helpful staff. Beautiful surroundings. Maybe not posh enough for some but a fantastic building. Overhaul a cracking two day stay.

It was definitely an experience
The hotel is a little difficult to rate. The room was a good size with a four poster bed, very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was a good size with nice fluffy towels changed daily and the whole room was nice and warm. The staff are very obliging and very friendly, and work very hard, but a bit disorganized at times. The hotel could do with a lick of paint outside and a bit of TLC on the inside, yet its a really comfortable and homely place to stay, and we have enjoyed our short visit.

Hmmmm.......
Hmmmm...arrived to a bit of a half-hearted reception. The lock on room 7 didn't actually 'lock' so HRH's jewels were in dire peril...however after 'bending' the lock-plate a little with the supplied tea spoon, the 'bolt engaged' ..so to speak. The spoon was unharmed...more or less. When night fell, the room was pretty dark due to the 5wt bulbs and insufficient for us to play snap, or indeed actually, read. Seriously though...it was all ok...the staff were lovely the next day...overall...good :-)

A Disappointing Stay
Whilst the Ennerdale Country House Hotel is set in lovely and well maintained grounds the hotel itself is dusty and in need of repair and redecoration. Our room had cobwebs, mould on the window frames and a broken door handle. There was also damp patches on thewallpaper. Breakfast was average both fruit or yoghurt and they ran out of marmalade. The restaurant staff were friendly however.

Avoid
Very out dated. Terrible bed, never been so tired after a relaxing weekend away. Extremely poor lighting in room. Locations is also poor as all the local pubs are closed down. Staff are very very laid back and just seem to be stood around in things need doing. The room are excessively hot. We never leave negative reviews but after our stay here we feel it’s important that prospective visitors and also staff learn from our experiences. The hotel was shabby and left us sleepless and frustrated.

Disappointing
This hotel is £67 a night to book so this experience is an absolute rip off. The hotel itself is rundown, there’s a smell of damp and the bedroom furniture needs completely replacing. The shower didn’t work in our room, it was really noisy and the bed was so uncomfortable that sleep was near impossible. The staff were friendly and really helpful however clearly short staffed, especially in the kitchen which led to a 40 minute wait for a suboptimal breakfast. Left after one night.

Shouldn't have bothered
Firstly the voucher used cost £190 and our 2 night stay at Ennerdale Country Hotel was £53.45 per couple per night, how is that worth the money?? The hotel was tired and run down. The room was shockingly basic something you would put up with in Blackpool for 40 quid a night. Really disappointed. Would have thought when a voucher is worth that much you would get your monies worth not a half price cheap 2 night grubby stay. The hotel is misleading too. It's actually 60 miles from Windermere!
