Ice Climbing
Overview
Fancy seeing what it’s like to be an arctic explorer, without the thousand mile trip and the cripplingly low temperatures?
With this experience you will be given an introduction to a very cool sport! Ice climbing is an offshoot of mountain climbing. In contrast to standard wall climbing, this challenge requires the use of pick axes to get up the ascent. You will be provided with all the essential gear, including crampons, harnesses, helmets and gloves. The venue offers the biggest indoor ice wall in the world at over 15 metres. A constant temperature of below zero is maintained and a freeze/thaw cycle found in nature creates hard packed snow suitable for climbing. The real ice climbing walls all offer a steep challenge for any aspiring adventurers!

Fantastic Time
Had a great day Ice Climbing as part of an Experience Day bought for me for my 40th. Made the effort to travel to Scotland as this has the highest ice wall. Well worth the trip. The instruction was first rate and the 2.5hrs climbing was brilliant. Managed to get on the indoor climbing wall too which added some variety (think it must have been quieter than usual). Would definitely recommend to others.

Hard but so much fun
I went ice climbing in Kinlochleven. Staff were friendly and I had so much fun but I found it hard work and I was exhausted afterwards. Can't wait to do it again
