A lovely experience
Had a 2 day break in Edinburgh and had a lovely time, especially doing one of the boat trips calling at the island with the ruined Abbey, then sailing under all 3 bridges across the Forth, and how beautiful the Forth rail bridge is. Enjoyed walking around the city including the quieter areas and admiring the architecture. Oh and seeing " the Monach of the Glen" one of my favourite paintings. What a lovely city and hotel which is so well placed. And lastly it was all very easy to book.

Edinburgh city hotel
A superbly situated hotel right on Princes Street and close the train station with great views of the castle at night. Breakfast was excellent with great choices, staff were friendy. My only issue was that we had a twin room and it was a bit cramped.

Lovely 2 day break
Finally got to use our vouchers. We were treated like royalty by all staff. We celebrated being 47 years married in this hotel. Lovely view from our bedroom and from the restaurant. Spotless clean and all covid hygiene rules being followed. Would recommend staying here.

Great short stay
We enjoyed our 2 night stay with breakfast at this decent 3 star hotel. it is well locate for the train station, shopping, bars and within walking distance of Edinburgh Castle and other famous sites. From start to finish all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was good choice and standard. Room was comfortable if not a little dated. We look forward to returning however will not book via Virgin Experiences as the available dates to use the voucher were very restricted

Mercure Edinburgh
The hotel room was spacious & clean. My one minor issue would be the lack of plug sockets. That wouldn't stop me staying there again though. The staff at the reception were excellent I asked for a room with a view of the castle & they sorted it out for us.

Great central location
Had a lovely stay in Edinburgh great location central to attractions and bars and restaurants. The dining area has recently been refurbished and has lovely big windows overlooking the castle. The rooms are a little bit dated and a little bit tired, they do need to be updated but they were clean and the bed was comfortable after a long day sight seeing. Would definitely visit again soon.

Fab location on Princess Street
Firstly - location on Princess Street is fantastic, beautiful view of the castle, easy walking distance to Waverely train station, buses & trams passing the hotel frequently. Staff were all very nice, breakfast was good, plenty of hot & cold options to chose from. Our twin room (no. 267) overlooked the castle but it was tiny, quite literally just body width round one side & bottom of beds. We didn't go to Edinburgh to spend it in the room but more space would've been great. Would still recommend

Great time in Edinburgh
Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was really good, but the room was clean but in need of redecoration. But we did have a great time in this lovely city and the hotel save your luggage when you checkout so you can enjoy the rest of the day without lugging cases around or having to pay at the station.

great city break in Edinburgh
The hotel could not have been any more central, in the middle of Princess street, the room was quite small but very clean and with large comfortable bed, the heating was excellent. The restaurant served good food at a reasonable price. I would go back again.

Edinburgh lovely old city
Edinburgh, fantastic city with lots to do. Edinburgh City Hotel mainly good however the bar and dining areas are due to be refurbished early 2018. Fantastic room overlooking the Christmas market, very comfortable although the shower could do with updating.

Good Hotel, if a little tired
Had a pleasant stay at the hotel in Edinburgh. Room was good but the hotel itself could do with a make over, new carpets and a lick of paint. Bar was quite pricey as you would expect for a hotel, breakfast was quite poor, very greesey. Staff were pleasant, pay the extra for a room on the road facing the castle, well worth it.

2 night stay in Edinburgh
Very convenient hotel right in the heart of the city centre, on Princes Street. Close to the castle and just 10-15 minute bus ride away from the zoo. It's also just across the road from Waverley train station. Breakfast at the hotel is lovely, plenty to choose from. The rooms are quite small but the view made up for that. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a night or 2. Ps. You must try the cookies from Ben's Cookies shop on Princes Street, they are amazing.

Edinburgh City Hotel
Great location, ideal for rail station and for touring city on foot. Public areas of hotel good, cracking views of Castle and old Edinburgh from dining room/bar. Unfortunately bedroom was tired, dated, and somewhat grubby with views overlooking air conditioning/ventilation vents/motors.

Average Hotel
Average Hotel at best; 1. Decent breakfast, good views from breakfast room. 2. Classic Room outdated and in a poor unclean state. 2.1 Bathroom is very unclean, below par. 3. Service from staff generally good, one unpleasant experience with Reception staff which left a sour taste. Overall, hotel is below par. I will not be going back to that hotel in a hurry.

Very tired hotel
To say that this is viewed as a 2 night stay in Edinburgh on the Main Street as part of a Virgin experience I would not recommend this to anyone it was a very tired and run down hotel the view we got was of the back of a building that was noisy and ugly.the hotel could not accommodate us for dinner on the first night we ended up with McDonald’s!!!! We took into account covid but thought the hotel would be more accommodating.this not the experience we expected from a virgin experience

Will not be returning here!
Room very tired, airless and warm. Bathroom not good with no extractor fan. Top of toilet cistern glued together as had been broken. Window looked out onto walls and air vents with fans that were noisy and going all night and day. Breakfast buffet luke warm food. Orange juice tasteless. Would not go back or recommend!

Hotel was a disappointment
Mecure hotel, Princess Street Edinburgh was to be honest a disappointment, staff where not very inviting or informative. Hotel room was dated and patched up. Breakfast was badly organised and not great food. Only positive for the Mecure is the location right in the heart of Edinburgh.
