Lovely afternoon tea and great staff
I recieved this champagne afternoon tea as a gift and thought we’d see if we could make a last minute booking which was fine. When we arrived we were greeted by the doorman who directed us to the restaurant and the restaurant staff then seated us. We were given a glass of champagne and chose out tea. Then the food was brought out and they explained what each thing was. It was all delicious, one of the nicest afternoon teas I’ve had. Our tea was refilled and the staff were really great.

Tea 4 Two
This was tea at its finest - you could choose a different tea from several different choices including Almond and Chinese. Not something you get just anywhere. The sandwiches were also excellent and included several different varieties of bread including beetroot which was interesting! The scones and cream were also of the highest standard as were the other cakes. Our only regret was that the cakes were far too many in number and a few more sandwiches would have been preferred.

Great afternoon Tea
Had a lovely afternoon tea with extra special flavoured breads such as pink beetroot bread and rye and other exciting flavours to enjoy. Did feel the area wasn't a plush as the rest of the hotel and could be a bit more grand but wasn't terrible .

Scrumptious Afternoon Tea
The champagne afternoon tea at the Montcalm hotel was amazing. Couldn't believe the amount of food we received and it was all lovely. Staff attentive but not intrusive. Amazing value would definitely recommend to friends and family. We did not eat anything else that day as we were so full.

Perfectly relaxing afternoon
Thanks to Sue's generosity, I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with a good friend. It was our first visit and my first Virgin experience and the whole event was great. Thank you to the team for the warm welcome and attentive care during our time in the popular Crescent Restaurant. The Champagne Tea was lovely!

Amazing Afternoon Tea
Came on Friday and had an amazing Champagne Afternoon Tea with my best friend who had brought it for my birthday. Staff friendly, the only down side was I had ordered 1 Gluten Free Vegetarian Afternoon Tea which had got lost in translation between the waiter and kitchen , first waiter did not understand after saying he did, it was sorted out quickly and rectified both afternoon teas were yummy, , Scones were lush, I am a scone fiend! Hard to find a good one. will come back again .

A suberb experience
One of the best afternoon teas that we have had. The quality of the food was excellent, absolutely faultless and so much of it. The waiter could not have been more attentive, asking if we needed anything, constantly topping up tea. It was a truly memorable experience that I will be recommending to everyone.

Perfect afternoon!
We had a lovely afternoon champagne tea, staff were very nice and the food lovely, except for the chicken curry flavoured sandwiches which we did not like. One of the waiters did say they would bring us some other choice of sandwich but we had finished our tea, and to be honest we were full up.The only other thing that niggles a bit was that our gift voucher given in April 2019 was now half price

Very nice experience
Lovely champagne afternoon tea experience. Warm and attentive service matched with tasty sandwiches and cakes and scones. Great selection of teas and coffee and a chilled glass of champagne to wash everything down! The setting was OK but lacked a little atmosphere as it was fairly quiet.

My afternoon tea experience at the Montcalm
I brought the afternoon tea for my mums birthday. We had a lovely time and the staff was very understanding as there were delays on the central line and turned up slightly late. However we was seated and got a glass of champagne straight away. The sandwiches and scones were lovely. The only thing I could fault was some of the cakes were dry and I didn’t have a napkin but as given one when asked. And we could have been asked if we would like some more tea. But I can’t fault the experience.

Mixed Feelings
This was given to me as a Christmas gift, and the booking element was very easy, the service and experience all ran smoothly - nice tea all round but I'm not sure on the location. It wasn't as luxurious as I'd hoped I suppose!

Disappointingly Average
The dining area where we were seated was quite clinical and not at all cosy for an afternoon tea! Good selection of sandwiches but scones were quite bland and a little dry. The other cakes were bite size but again were hard and very cold (as though they had only just been taken out of a chiller. All in all not was I was expecting and not as indulgent as I was hoping for especially as this was a 50th birthday gift!

Slightly disappointed. Didn't compare to other 'five-star' afternoon teas I've had. Service and surroundings were disappointing. Felt a bit like a Marks and Spencer's café.

Champagne Afternoon Tea for Two at the 5* Montcalm Hotel, London
A very enjoyable day starting on a Virgin train from Coventry & return in the evening. The day was spent with my eldest daughter going to Covent Garden, then the 'treat' of the tea and a walk back to Tottenham Court Road & tube to Euston.

worked out ok in the end
Interesting afternoon although we had booked this our name wasn't on the list when we arrived and everyone seemed unsure of what to do with us! Anyhow they sat us at a table and then gave us lunch menus??? After we explained we were here for afternoon tea then they gave us the menu for that. Then we had to explain that we were already booked in for afternoon champagne tea . Anyway once that was cleared up the service was excellent and the food was delicious and very generous.

Disappointing food and poor service
We expected more from a 5star hotel. The Crescent room where Afternoon Tea is served is a modern room with very little atmosphere. The waitress who took our order for tea never came back to our table to ask if everything was OK and whether we needed more tea. The scones were overcooked and hard. I am sure there are much better places for Afternoon Tea in London and we will not be returning to the Montcalm.

Montcalm Hotel
We were very disappointed. Considering it was supposed to be a 5 Star hotel. First impression was good but when shown into the tea room it went downhill. The air conditioning was cold so my partner had to sit with her coat over her shoulders, along with most others on that particular side of the room. The scones were very dry as were the cakes. The sandwiches were lovely. The ambience was disappointing, it was like sitting in a breakfast room. No nice crisp tablecloths just Formica tables

Average Afternoon Tea
Overall I was very disappointed. Could not understand the logic behind coloured bread - waiter did not explain "flavours" nor did he say what was in the sandwiches. Scones were very small and well done on the outside. Why was Prosecco served, when Champagne was part of the experience? The ambience of the restaurant was no better than a high street cafe; it did not have the same luxurious touch as the foyer. Service was good but not excellent. Would not recommend this hotel/experience.

Underwhelming
A fairly ordinary central London hotel. The afternoon tea was served in the mediocre restaurant. Staff were pleasant enough but were clearly pushing us to buy bottled water. The 'champagne' was Prosseco but I enjoyed it. Sandwiches & scones OK but the small cakes were dry & I didn't like any of them. Sorry

Disappointing
We looked forward to this champagne afternoon tea. We expected a bit of luxury but the room was anything but. It was clearly the breakfast room at the Montcalm and very unattractive. Absolutely no luxury just a bland and not particularly comfortable room. In fact if it had been a cafe I would have walked past. The sandwiches were very tasty the cakes were nothing special. Service was very good and friendly.

Disappoinment with a capital tea
I was gifted this experience for a significant birthday and took my sister with me. It was disappointing. The 'champagne' was in fact prosecco. Some of the sandwich selection was a bit off-piste: hummus or cucumber with yoghurt?; the fruit scones were stale - I complained and they brought replacements which were better. We had to ask for more tea - some of which was spilled on the tiled floor and just left by the waiter. The room was pretty bare and basic - no windows and not even a tablecloth.

Poor - give the Montcalm a miss
Extremely poor ‘champagne’ afternoon tea. Bought as a gift what should have been a special occasion was nothing of the sort. Afternoon tea at the Montcalm Marble Arch is just a virgin experience day factory- processing you with little charm or care - serving sandwiches which had so little filling you could barely hazard a guess as to the content, dry scones and average patisseries most of which were so sweet I couldn’t tell you the flavour. Give it a miss. Plenty of other top tea’s in London!

Awful afternoon tea
Very disappointing. Hard scones, stale sandwiches with hardly any filling and prosecco instead of Champagne as promised. Worth about £5 each not the £38.50.
