With a mixture of talks and hands-on sessions, learn everything from bee basics like bee biology, how colonies work and communicate to what the life of a beekeeper entails. You’ll get suited and booted before immersing yourselves in the role of beekeepers as you experience first-hand what goes on inside the busy outdoor hive. Combined with plenty of interactions with the honeybees, you’ll be shown how to lift the lids and how to spot the queen bee.
In addition to light refreshments, you’ll also enjoy tasters of the honey as you hear about why and how different types of honey exist. This promises to be an unforgettable day out that’ll leave you buzzing long after it’s over.

What happens on the day?
Your full day beekeeping experience will be split into different sessions, featuring a mix of practical and theory. Starting with the bee basics, you’ll hear about bee biology, colonies and their life cycle, before diving into what the life of a beekeeper entails. Then, suited and booted in a beekeeper suit, you’ll go inside the busy hive enjoying plenty of interaction with the honeybees. You’ll be shown how to lift the lids and how to spot the queen bee. You’ll enjoy tasters of the honey as the team teach you all about the process of harvesting honey but please bring a packed lunch.

- Minimum age: 13
- The experience is unsuitable for those in wheelchairs. Walking away from the bees after the experience is essential
- The experience is unsuitable for those with allergies to bees of any kind
- Refreshments are provided, but please ensure you take a packed lunch
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Please book and take your experience before the expiry date.
This experience is available from 2022 - seven days a week between April and September. Excluded dates may apply.
We recommend you book at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
