Really Really Lovely day!
What can I say! A wonderful day had by myself and my family. The Staff and crew were so lovely an accommodating. Their site was really easy to use to book my tickets and Mark helped me combine my Virgin tickets with the rest of my booking! When we arrived the staff were lovely, the conductor cracking a joke with us every time he passed, (mainly due to the size of the party!) We all had a lovely day hopping on and off the train, will be going back very soon!

Lovely day out
Lovely day out on the Spa Valley Railway. We were able to park nearby at Tunbridge Wells and enjoyed our trip up the line and back. We then walked I to Tunbridge Wells for a leisurely lunch. The staff at the Spa Valley Railway were very friendly and smartly turned out. A reminder of a bygone age.

Great day out
We booked our spa valley steam train experience a few weeks ahead of the date . We arrived it was a Lovely crisp autumnal day. There was a large sign when we arrived saying no steam today. It was a shame but we went on a lovely old diesel train

Steam is great!
I was given a voucher for a steam train ride for two on the Spa Valley Railway. We drove to Eridge, where there was plenty of parking. The station is charmingly retro. Depending on the time, you could be pulled by a steam or diesel train (we managed a lovely steam engine both trips). We went to Tunbridge Wells and walked to The Pantiles, very old and charming. Lunch, shopping, then back home. A great day out.

A Really Good Day
After the initial disappointment of no steam trains running it turned out to be a good day out. The stations were well kept and interesting. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Refreshments were basic but there were places to eat near each station. The scenery was lovely, hadn't realised Tunbridge Wells was so rural. Most of the attractions near each station were quite a walk away which we found difficult so we just enjoyed the time riding the train. Overall a good day out.

SO SURPRISED!
This was a small Christmas present for us and we really did not know what to expect, as we knew so little about this small railway line. Wonderful experience, we enjoyed everything about it, the staff, the train, the scenery and indeed the variety of passengers. Perhaps we were just lucky, as the weather was also good. We would go again and ride up and down the line for longer - with a glass of wine or gin and tonic in hand. as indeed this can be purchased aboard.

Would recommend
A nice little trip through the kent countryside ending at a lovely pub for lunch. Unfortunately points trouble at tunbridge wells meant a taxi on the return journey arranged and paid by spa valley. Customer service very very good - nice guys complimentary tea coffee and a return trip trip on a date to suit us.

Perfect Christmas gift
My daughter bought my wife and I a day on the Spa Valley railway as a Christmas present last year and we were eventually able to use it in June. What a wonderful experience it turned out to be. So good in fact that we plan to repeat it later on this year.

Rain didn,t spoil the day
After months of sunshine, our railway experience saw a day of rain but it didn’ t spoil our enjoyment. The long period of dry weather meant that steam hauling had been suspended due to safety concerns. Ho! Ho! Means we will have to go back again to experience a steam haul. Lovely carriage cafe and small history museum and living workshop. Thourouly enjoyable experience

Enjoyed every minute, but expensive.
My daughter bought me the Spa Valley Railway steam train ride for two for my birthday last year, but we waited for the better weather. The venue is wonderful and super-friendly. The train trip is really very enjoyable indeed. You have three stops other than the one you began at and they are all interesting. One word of warning though, the voucher cost was £35 but the tickets are only £10 each on the day, so it actually cost £15 more than it needed to!!! That was a big surprise, no idea why

Sunny steam experience
Enjoyed the ride. Only five & half miles long but even shorter today. Ride finished at third station. Not going to fourth because diesel driver didn't turn up. Didn't quite understand that. Also Inn at second station closed for private function so couldn't visit that either. Food market in Tunbridge Wells well worth a visit. Staff were very friendly &helpful. All in all an enjoyable experience.

An interesting little railway
Spa Valley Railway...not the longest or most impressive of heritage railways but a friendly and pretty little line. Confusing timetable information - doesn't seem to be able to make up its mind whether trains will be steam hauled, diesel hauled or both! Good value buffet on train. Would be nice if the rail trip could be combined with another attraction, such as a garden or historic house. Beware the voucher can only be used on green or purple timetable days.

Great day
The train was quaint.on time, great if you with a group for a short trip on a steam train, with a pub lunch at end. Enjoyed the train experience. We had Virgin experience as gift for something else. Prob easier for recipients, to book tickets direct ,as found virgin procedure a headache to find dates for original experience. Wouldn’t recommend gift certificates ,

Spa Valley Railway
The steam train experience was very good: the staff and volunteers were friendly and efficient. The only problem was getting the tickets. The website did not lead me through the system to get the tickets. After two phone calls and apparently two emails sent to me with tickets which did not arrive, I asked for tickets to be posted to me which never turned up. It all ended well with an email giving us authority to travel.

Good day out, but......
no steam trains which seems to be a fairly regular occurrence. It's a volunteer railway so can accept that but the emphasis is on steam in way the experience is described and the purchaser of the gift (60th birthday present) assumed that's what I would be getting. The description should therefore be amended to 'steam and/or diesel train trip'. Also the cost of the Virgin ticket is far in excess of the price of purchasing directly from the vendor with, as far as I can see, little justification.

Great Day Out
Really friendly people made it an extremely pleasant day out. The station at Groombridge was a picture. As with all old lines that Mr Beeching closed the villages they visit are a little non-descript but it's the experience of old steam trains and old carriages that is what the day is all about.

Spa Valley Railway
We went on a very wet day. The railway has an atmospheric station in Eridge; the cafe with friendly staff did not have much to offer by way of food. The engines looked splendid. There was a Deltic diesel and a Midland steam engine. We went on a steam train which dawdled to Tunbridge Wells and arrived 20 minutes late. It left late on the return journey but still crawled along which was disappointing. Sadly the view from the train comprised mainly lineside trees and bushes;not much to see

Fun day out!
Lovely stations, Groombridge was particularly appealing to the eye. It was a good day out and having nice weather helped. Just 4 stops along the route but wasn’t as much to see and do as we thought and definitely wasn’t a whole day out!
