Great Afternoon Tea
We had a really pleasant experience - the afternoon tea was totally lovely and very well presented. The staff were very pleasant and the surroundings pleasing. We had the choice of eating outside (but was a bit chilly that day), on comfy chairs in the lounge or in the dining room (our choice). We were not at all rushed, all in all we both had a great time.

Very enjoyable
Poets House Hotel is a lovely venue Just a few steps from the Cathedral in Ely with a free car park just across the road. The staff were really nice, friendly and very helpful Very good Covid precautions were in place The food was nicely presented, plentiful and tasted even better than it looked. There was so much food we couldn’t eat it all and ended up taking a doggy bag home!! I would highly recommend Afternoon tea at the Poets House Hotel

A Peaceful Time.
We enjoyed a splendid and peaceful afternoon tea looking out onto Ely Cathedral at The Poets House Hotel. The staff allowed us to dine in the restaurant due to my wife's disability. The staff were helpful and friendly without being obtrusive. The food was fresh, generous and delicious.

Lovely afternoon tea for two!
A lovely venue, friendly staff and a very tasty afternoon tea! My friend and I sat outside on their little courtyard with the sun shining, it was great! Two things though would have made the whole thing perfect would have Ben an other choice of sandwich as we had 8 finger sandwiches and 4 were egg & mayonaise, also the venue doesn’t have its own parking (Apart from a couple of disabled spaces) however the staff were helpful and told us where we could park close by. A very nice day was had!

Enjoyable tea for two
Calm and relaxed atmosphere if a little impersonal. Food very good but double check if you have any allergies - we asked for no egg sandwiches but they were still included

Really friendly service and lovely surroundings
Fantastic welcome from the team in lovely surroundings. Tea was beautifully presented and there was lots of it. I would have preferred more dainty sandwiches (they were tasty but very thick pieces of bread). Plain and fruit scones and a lovely selection of dainty cakes and a panacotta. One small pot of jam was not sufficient for 2 people so we had to ask for more. What would take this to the next level is a selection of loose leaf teas. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Great venue, average food
Ely is a lovely place for a day out and the Poets House is a very nice hotel that's situated just opposite Oliver Cromwell House (a popular tourist attraction). However the afternoon tea menu is very average in terms of the variety it offers and also the quality of the food. There are better afternoon teas out there but this is decent stop if you're looking for something to accommodate a day out in Ely

It was okay
We arrived and we were told to take a seat in the counter of their lounge then someone came over and gave us cutlery and cups, the server then came over and asked if we wanted to move somewhere else, and we moved to the restaurant which had one other table full for afternoon tea meaning it lacked atmosphere. The food was standard, wish they gave us a bit more but it was an extra charge and we’re only asked for drinks once.

I’m glad we went but....
It was lovely to have an hour to ourselves. The environment was a bit stark but was clean and spacious. But the service wasn’t good, we had to ask on of occasions for bits and pieces. However, they dealt with my allergies really well.

Nice
We were surprised that there wasn’t a choice of teas. The one that was served had a bitter after taste. Have to have wholemeal/wholegrain bread, was told that the sarnies were made with whatever took the chefs fancy but if I had mentioned it on booking, they would have accommodated!! Was placed in a garden room, prior, read the bar menu whilst waiting and there was a choice of bread for sarnies!! The rest was nice and the staff were lovely, polite & attentive.
