Afternoon Tea for Two at Lumley Castle
We arrived half an hour early , but were shown to our table straight away. It was a lovely relaxing afternoon in lovely surroundings. We asked if they did tours and after we had finished the porter very kindly showed us round the function rooms, even though tours are not generally available. A very enjoyable day.

Festive Afternoon Tea
Lovely setting and very festive. There was an excellent assortment of sandwiches, however although the scone was very fresh and well made I think it would have been better is served with a small pot of cream. The choice of cakes was impressive, but I have sampled better. The small warm mince pies were a lovely seasonal touch.

Service could be better
The castle inside and outside was stunning. The afternoon tea is held in - lovely. Love the fact the staff wear Elizabethan costumes. Only criticism is the customer service could have been better. The staff (expect the gentleman on reception) serving and floating around were not the most pleasant, with one lady being quite abrupt. Good service, just as much as the surroundings and the food is what makes afternoon tea a nice experience.

afternoon tea
Recieved as a gift found the sandwiches and cakes to be very meagre , Small table no choice of sandwiches after a recent visit to beamish hall for afternoon tea the whole experience out shone lumley castle lovely set tables menus to choose from and so much food we received a box to bring home the food that we could not eat on the day an over all much nicer and better value for money trip out i would advise anyone to choose beamish hall over lumley castle every time .
