Follow in the footsteps of Oxford’s most known writers with this Official CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien Walking Tour for Two.
Both Oxford University alum, learn more about the lives and the work of writers’ Lewis and Tolkien, respectively known for the Narnia series and The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Your two-hour guided walk will take you around the old city of Oxford as you get a glimpse of how the city used to be in the early 20th century.
You’ll get to see Exeter College where Tolkien studied, the University Church where Lewis preached in WW2 and hear about the colleges where they taught. You’ll also visit the Eagle & Child pub, where Inklings used to meet weekly.

What happens on the day?
You’ll arrive at the designated meeting point of outside the Cool Britannia gift shop at the corner of Turl Street and Broad Street. You’ll be greeted by your professional guide before heading out on your two hour tour. You’ll get to take in historic Oxford, while hearing the stories and seeing the sights that have shaped the lives of world-famous writers CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien.

- Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult
- No dogs other than guide dogs are allowed on the tour
- The tour is wheelchair accessible however may pass over cobbled streets. Please let the supplier know if you have any mobility issues that it would be helpful for your Guide to be aware of in advance
