About this experience
There’s heavy machinery, and then there’s the monster digger – 22 tonnes of mighty digging power and yours, for 90 minutes, with this Monster Digger Experience at the ever-popular Diggerland.
You’ll get behind the controls of a massive Komatsu PC210 Hydraulic Excavator to try your hand at working one of the biggest pieces of machinery a novice can experience. With a bucket that could fill over seven bathtubs and over nearly ten metres tall at full stretch you’ve never driven anything like it, though you’ll have an instructor with you at all times to help you get the hang of this giant engine.
It’s more challenging than it looks, so this’ll really put your skills and judgements to the test. If the other great machines around at Diggerland just aren’t quite hitting the spot then this Monster Digger Experience should be right up your street, so do your best to master digging pits, filling in holes and moving massive buckets of mud!

“An epic day out ”
Had a great time at Grizedale Forest GoApe. There is a good mix of activities in the treetop challenge including some epic zip wires. Definitely was pushed out of my comfort zone but always felt safe. The kids in our group loved it. There can be a bit of waiting around between the platforms. Our experience lasted well over three hours from start to finish so allow plenty of time. A very good value experience.

What happens on the day?
On arrival at your chosen Diggerland location you’ll be granted admission to the theme park to make your way to the Komatsu PC210 Excavator’s enclosure. You’ll be greeted by your instructor and given a briefing on safety and the controls before climbing into the cabin to continue your 90 minute one-to-one experience.
It’ll be like a heavy machinery ballet, as you work all of the controls in tandem to make holes, fill them, and move around huge buckets of mud, soil and more than a few very confused worms.

Participant guidelines
- Minimum age: 17
- Sufferers of epilepsy and any other medical condition which prohibits driving are not able to take part in this activity
- Bring 1 spectator free of charge, if the park is open to the public on your event date then the participant and spectators can use the rides and drives in the park during the day
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
The experience must be pre-booked and runs from February to October seven days a week subject to availability.
We recommend you book at least two weeks in advance to ensure a date is available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes for the full experience. Please allow additional time if you wish to use the rides and drives at Diggerland before and/or after your experience, subject to the park opening days and times.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
