Take a walk on the wild side! Perfect for any animal lover, Drusillas Park's Animal Encounter will get you get up close and personal with nature!
Make unforgettable memories as you take part in an amazing one-to-one encounter and hand-feed your favourite animal. There’s a whole host of incredible animals for you to meet, choose from red pandas to penguins, sloths, meerkats, lemurs, coatis, camels, giant anteaters and more.
Don’t forget to bring your camera! There will be plenty of opportunities to channel your inner photographer and take some amazing national geographic worthy photos.

What happens on the day?
Please make your way to Drusillas Visitor Services Office five to ten minutes before the start of your encounter. You will be met by an animal keeper who will give you a behind the scenes tour first and then lead you to whichever activity it is you have chosen. You’ll be given a health and safety briefing and then taken to meet whichever animal you have booked to see.
At the end of your experience there will be plenty of time to take some close-up photographs, so don’t forget to bring your camera. Participants are welcome to arrive early and stay until the park closes to enjoy other attractions and animals.

Participant guidelines
- Minimum age: 6 (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult with a valid day ticket)
- Please note that this experience is for one participant. Spectators will not be able to accompany the voucher holder during their experience
- Entry to Drusillas Park is included for the Close Encounter participant/s. Additional (non-participating) guests will require a valid day ticket
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
This experience is run daily except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
It is recommended that you book at least four to six weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Your experience will last approximately 30 to 40 minutes, however you are welcome to spend all day at the park.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

Went for the sloth encounter , booked in and greeted promptly by Sue the keeper who was lovely and friendly and informative . Was taken into kitchens to see food prep then through to the enclosure to feed 2 beautiful sloths ! I didn’t want to leave! Also saw the bats and a few small monkeys that share the enclosure , was an amazing experience and one I’ll never forget . The rest of the zoo was wonderful with a vast variety of animals , the place was spotless and well organised. Thanks Drusillas
“Great Day”
Got to feed two sloths, well worth the money. Learnt about them too, keeper was very factual. Fruitbats were very cheeky too! Would definitely do it again.
