Tell us a bit about your journey so far. How did you get to this point in your career? Can you pinpoint any challenges you’ve faced along the way, and how you overcame them? Was there anyone who inspired you along the way?
My passion started as a hobby, in my little conservatory at home, after creating my first silver ring. My amazing husband built a perfect workbench to fit around me and I grew naturally from there.
The biggest challenge I had was during COVID as I had to stop all classes and this really slowed the business down. On May 17th 2021, I opened my very own workshop in a fab little business park close to my home. I’m sure this date is significant to everyone as this was lockdown lifting! There were still a lot of restrictions in place, so taking on my workshop gave my customers the choice of private sessions if they didn’t want to mix with others.
Inspiration came from all small businesses, who adapted how they traded. Let’s face it, if you survived lockdown, there’s just an amazing community support cheering you on.
Can you give us a sense of a typical day in your role?
Every day is different for me. I am a one-woman show, so I absolutely love my workshops. This is my passion, but there’s so much more that goes into the company than one might think.
Marketing, bookings, ordering silver, hand stamping wax stamps for my bags; yes it’s time consuming but I want to cover everything and give my customers the best experience possible.
Tell us about your company/business; if you could focus on the experiences you have with us and why they’re so great, even better!
Afternoon tea and ring making sessions are such a perfect memory making experience. It gives you the fuel to build up your strength to create some amazing rings! The groups are small, relaxed and welcoming.
If you could have afternoon tea with another inspirational woman (alive or dead), who would it be?
I would have to say Audrey Hepburn - she left behind a beautiful legacy. I’d love to hear about her life! From her roles on screen and stage to her humanitarian work around the world, it would be so interesting listening to her stories. The perfect workshop would be helping her create a special piece of jewellery in honour of her role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders in business? Is there anything you wish you’d known early on in your career?
My advice would be to stay positive, try and take small steps to grow your business. For my business, I try to make it an experience that they will never forget. It’s important to go that extra mile to make your business special and stand out from the crowd.
