We arrived at the first session on a beautiful Sunday morning, and were told we would be strapped to a harness for two hours (which you forget about once you climb the second tree). Those two hours fly by quicker than I did on the first zip wire. After a quick and informative safety briefing from the friendly team, we were the first to lead the pack onwards. You start off fairly high off the ground, and throughout the time gradually get higher and higher. Immediately my other half starts to say “I’m scared” (not that I believed her), and had the debate with herself over whether she can actually swing from the tree to the net on the other side. She does, and loves it. And then she’s on her way leaving me behind. For someone who repeatedly told me in the car on the way here she was “scared of heights” she took to the trees like a natural.
There felt like there was so many different courses there, each one slightly more difficult and higher up than the last, and at the end of each section there was a zip wire to the next.
“I’m gonna need a push, Carl!” said the future wife at the first wire. Now at this point, as the classy gentlemanly guy that I am, I declined that invitation (because she went and pushed herself off as I was about to do it). The adrenaline rush you get makes you want to go again. Then you’re climbing the next course, and by the time you get to the top you’re already excited about the next zip wire!

You’re told how to land after the zip wire. I never got to do the forward landing as I always managed to somehow spin around slightly on the descent, so would land looking back at the course I’d just completed – which is not a bad view at all. Let’s just say my landing skills were... the opposite of graceful.
As you arrive at the end of the final course, full of energy, you’re greeted with a sign congratulating you on completing the full course. The time really does fly by, and at this point we were both checking our watches as we couldn’t believe it had been two hours.
We both had such fun and it’s definitely something we’re going to do again in the future. If you want to do something different with your partner, or even a group of friends or family, I really couldn’t recommend this enough.
But about those jeans...
