Not only will you learn how to cook it, you’ll learn what to look for when buying fresh fish and the different ways you can prepare it. You’ll get hands-on to create all kinds of exciting dishes, from north Indian fish stews to Pacific Island raw fish salad with mango and red pepper.
You’ll be guided by a knowledgeable tutor to help you create a meal on your own from scratch. You’ll come away with plenty of new cooking skills and tips to recreate at home.

What happens on the day?
On arrival participants will be registered and be offered beverages of their choice. The day starts with a brief introduction to the herbs and spices you will be using throughout the day, after which you will learn to make a delicious fish stock from scratch, and cooking a number of very exciting dishes.
All beverages, wines and beers are included in the experience. Each participant will receive an information and recipe pack including details of what has been cooked on the day. Lunch is included and participants have the option of taking home what they have made in the class.
Participant guidelines
- Minimum age: 11 (under 18’s need parental or guardian consent)
- A soft drink alternative will be offered to under 18s. ID may be required
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary
Availability
The Cooking Academy runs a variety of courses on varying days from Monday to Saturday, September to July. Please check their website to find out the dates and times of your course of interest. Classes run from 10.00 to 16.00
We recommend you book at least six weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
Please allow a total time of 6 hours, although actual time participating will be approximately 5 hours 30 minutes.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
